Hi Tazzie,

What does your liver cleanse consist of?

basically we have been looking at Sandra Cabot, since the diet is very close to SP....

fresh fruit and especially veggies
good proteins
lots of fluids
it says no caffeine but says green tea is okay
no artificial sweetners
no dairy
good fats--but don't over do it
she doesn't specifcally mention items like bread or pasta except to say they encourage water retention--so I believe those are eliminated too

it seems like the basic idea is to only feed your body foods that will encourage it to work right (where have we heard that before) especially the liver

also it looks like there might be supplementation, but personally I want to avoid that if I can at least for now

hi, Tazzie--
I just found you here. My first step in liver cleansing has been to start the day on an empty stomach with half a lemon in hot water. It is a liver tonic I used to follow.
What other steps? I have milkthistle on hand, but I'm currently doing so many new things to my body that I wonder if I shouldn't hold off on that.

Hiya, hot lemon water is a good idea it really helps flush out your system, basically I have started by working hard to eliminate dairy from my diet and am giving my body time to get used to it, all week I was having pounding cravings but its getting better now :-) also I have not had any wheat or gluten all week, since you feel you are already doing a lot to your body (I probably am too) lets just take it slowly one step at a time, we need to be able to reasonably stick with this...as for the milk thistle I started that 2 weeks ago, I am hypothyroid which causes regularity issues and over the past 2 weeks it has gradually gotten better with much less bloating, from what I have read Milk thistle really protects support and repairs the liver and so far I have had no negative side effects, but its really up to you, I think a good first step is to eliminate dairy and then we can move on. Are you wheat/gluten free?

hi. tazz-
yes--no dairy, no wheat, no grains of any kind

it's working for me, because i'm so focussed on meat, fat and eggs, i don't have to make subtle distinctions.

i'll let you know when i start the milk thistle. i also have heard it's mild and gentle. i haven't ever ordered the cabot book.
thanks, taz

How are you all doing on the liver cleanse? I was wondering
about trying to do dairy free, gluten free myself. Have a bit
of cellulite, know this would help.

I am sugar, artificial sweetener, additive, dairy and gluten -free now. Have not used my liver capsules yet, as I am still getting in a diet routine. I eat meats, some starches, and some fruit only. It's worth simplifying. You just might feel much better.

Gluten free signifies grain free. Only rice would not be included in this, all other cereal grains have the protein chain that causes the digestive distress. Some can tolerate small protions of oatmeal, but that's it.

I am g-free. My total cholestrol is 208, but my HDL is 77 and my ratio is 1.4. I eat meat and sat fats whenever I feel like it. I only keep an eye on intake to keep calories under control.

Esiac tea is a great cleanse too. Liver, kidney and colon.
