Default After pregnancy and starting ATKINS

I am currently pregnant and will be delivering in July. I did Atkins before I got pregnant and the weight seems to always fall off as soon as I start. I am interested in starting the day I deliver! Has anyone had any experience with this? Starting Atkins Induction as soon as they deliver? And if so, what were your results?

I am starting Atkins 5 months after delivery. Hopefully, there will be some other people to provide some advice. The only thing I can say is make sure you drink a lot of water. I experienced more dehydration on those first few days than I have ever experienced in my life.

Good luck. I hope you have a wonderful delivery!

Also, if you doctor is low carb friendly, you may want to discuss it with him/her.

If you are breastfeeding aren't you supposed to be doing maintenance? If you're not planning on breastfeeding, I can't see why it would hurt. In any case, can't you do a maintenance Atkins now while you are pregnant?

I'm sure i could do that while being pregnant, but I've had no motivation to be good while pregnant! lol Which leads me to say that I have gained alot of weight! I'm not going to breastfeed, so that's why I wanted to start induction as soon as possible! I just wonder what kind of results I should expect.

Is this your first baby? I think if you are feeling OK and don't have the motivation to start now, you will probably not have the motivation right after birth and the baby starts keeping you up all night! Why don't you put an outer limit on it, like 3 months postpartum, just to take the pressure off. Recovering from birth takes some time, too.

No, this is my second baby...I am gonna be very motivated. I am already very motivated to lose it as soon as my Little one gets here, but I am making a plan now to stick with it then.

I think it will help you recover in terms of building your blood and just general energy level. I thought it might be your first and was thinking you'd be so overwhelmed! The second is so much easier - congratulations on your growing family. When I cut out grains to do low-carb after my kids were born, my iron levels just spiked - I'd been borderline anemic during the prengancies.

I wish you all the best. Do you have a name picked out?

thanks! yeah we are naming our second little boy Nicholas!
Yeah, I remember that overwhelming feeling and you are right! I just didn't want to do anything that might shock my body so much that I might not heal as well or anything like that....
