Ok, here's the question...my family, following their Irish roots, loves to boil spare ribs along with saurkraut and potatoes. Now, I know saurkraut in controlled amounts is fine. Obviously, I know that eating potatoes while in in OWL stage of Atkins wouldn't be a wise idea, but what if they are cooking in the same water? Would this have any serious affect on the carb level of the ribs overall? Any help would be appreciated

It won't have a serious affect on the ribs but it will on the juice because the potatoes will disintegrate as they cook. So if you're just eating the ribs and nothing else, you would be fine.

What about cooking the ribs and sauerkraut together then cooking the potatoes in some of the water from the ribs and sauerkraut. The potatoes will have the flavour of the ribs and kraut and everyone will be happy.
