I was on Lipitor My muscles began hurting so bad I wanted to scream. I went off. Then I started researching on the net, and found so! many! people with complaints yet the drug co. still say "rare" side effects. Baloney!

Then I went on Zetia as I was assured it would not cause the same problems. And I kept getting weaker and weaker (same time I was DX'd with a heart blockage, so I kept putting it to the heart). Would have waves of weakness and no energy, hard to breathe. Muscle tested it, and got off. And within 10 days the weakness and breathing problems went away.

Red Yeast Rice, you must also take CoQ10, is so effect that the FDA wanted it pulled because it was lowering cholesterol so much they didn't want people using it without being monitored. There is also a Cholest-Off I think it is tha is sold in pharmacies, OTC.

Red Yeast Rice is a natural statin. Works the same way, causes the same side effects.

I read that if you take a statin, you should take COQ10. My doctor never mentioned it. I take the COQ10.

Does cholesterol really make a difference?I'd rather be safe than sorry.

and if it turns out that it does make a difference, but not lower levels - higher levels are actually more protective?

I wish I had the money to buy everyone i know a copy of Malcolm Kendrick's new book "The Great Cholesterol Con".
I don't know if everything in it's the gospel. I just know it makes sense to me and I'm done worrying about or trying to lower my cholesterol beyond where healthy low carb eating will take it.

I spoke with my dad today, who has been on statins for years. He is always having muscle aches and pulling muscles.
