Talking It's Working!

I thought I'd repeat myself..(Okay...BRAG! ) from my "Visit from the Whoosh Fairy" post in General Low-carb...

I doubted it for a while, but theweight has finally started to let go! 211.4 this morning! I'm going to average on Sunday and change my stats then...don't want to jinx myself!!

Between the CAD and the new supplements, I think I can finally declare my several-month stall OVER. (fingers crossed)

BTW, I still feel the "hungries" between CM's, but it's not so bad! I've found that distracting myself actually WORKS now, so things must be shifting a bit... so if you're having the same problem, hang in there, it'll work!

I'v very happy for you. So many quit before their bodies have a chance to react. You hung on and will enjoy the fun of being a CAD-er!

Congratulations...

Potatofree I am soo happy for you.. I remember when the first little bit of weight started to move on CAD I thought oh my Gwad this might really work!!!

Just keep in the back of your mind that it seems weight fluctuations are quite common at least for me on CAD versus Atkins so tomorrow if you are up do not despair...i usually go down one, up two, down 1, down 1.5 up one more, down two...finally this has stopped bugging the heck out of me...I just know that when I see that new low or the average of the week is on a downward trend I know its working

Congratulations!! What new supplements are you using Potatoefree? I finally broke down today and started CAD. I have been doing Atkins now for about 8 weeks with only a gain. I really think I am in a point that I am afraid to add carbs. Today I used my reward meal as lunch. I had a taco salad and two cookies. Is that OK?

Congrats again. It sounds like we are kind of alike. Right now I am at 210. You can email me if you want, I really need a buddy!

Congrats to you!

I'm taking (all together, a small MEAL...lol) One a Day WeightSmart, L-Carnitine, CoQ10, Chromium, and Calcium/magnesium.

Have you read one of the CAD/CALP books yet? If so, which one? I like to ask first, since there are variations among them that can get confusing otherwise if one person read an older one, and not the same one I have...

Congrats on the Whoosh, Potatofree!

I keep hearing about this whoosh - I wish I knew about it first-hand.

I'm still on Atkins induction and will be for awhile. I'm just curious to know - did you switch to CAD from Atkins, and if so, when did you decide to switch?

I lost the first of my weight the hard way, low-fat... it took me the better part of a year to get rid of about 20-25 lbs. When I found Atkins (I was skeptical too, thought it would kill my kidneys..lol) I was able to lose more than twice as fast, and easier. The reason I switched to CAD is that I was having a LONG stall..several months, mostly due to quitting smoking and having to give up a very physically active job when I couldn't find a caregiver for my son. I needed a "do-over" I guess! I was feeling deprived and fighting temptation to give up, not seeing the scale budge week after week....I don't blame Atkins, though, it was just the combination of things making me need a change.

It was a rough patch to adjust to, although the "treat" part of the reward meal was nice, I was AFRAID of eating it...lol..NOT good! It was hard to adjust to the "no snacking" part as well..but after a few days, it wasn't a problem. I feel so stuffed after RM, that I'm not even out looking for a snack before bed... even on Atkins, I was snacking all day long, and they say even low-carb snacks can, in SOME people, cause blood sugar/insulin rollercoaster-ing..(I like to make up words! :lol

I can see going back to Atkins eventually, since I miss some things I could have that I have to save for RM now...like my low-carb muffins at breakfast! (CAD doesn't use the "net carb" theory...<pout>

I was one of those "Atkins is the only plan" people, but now I realize there isn't one right way!

Plateaus schmateaus!

Sounds like a good reason to change regimes. Atkins is getting a bit samey (despite creative efforts to make it otherwise). I just read the first CAD book, and the RMs look pretty cool. Atkins does work pretty quickly when it works, but I've got a ways to go on Induction before I can switch over to CAD.

Your posts are encouraging 'tato!
