My main holiday meal is Thanksgiving. I find it a FANTASTIC CALP dinner. I do have the meal for dinner- so it is my RM.
I make a big turkey, then I have lots and lots of veggies- and none with sugar. I will make at least 2 or 3 green veggies and a salad, plus baked palin sweet and white potatoes. I make stuffing, but no rolls. I will make cranberry sauce, and an au jus gravy with no flour or sugar. There is dessert, too.
Before the dinner I decide what I want for my carbs, so I can plan accordingly. I do overcarb a bit, but not much as I stick to my plan. One year I decided I didn't want pecan pie for my carb- but I knew I wanted a piece the next day- so I did take a slice and put it in the fridge!
So far this year I am going to have salad, turkey, lots of veggies, a very small sweet potato and a slice of apple tart (if DS makes it again).

This will be my second Thanksgiving since I began following CALP. I did really well last year and kept it simple. My preference last year was to skip the snacks and save all my room for my salad, turkey, stuffing, and vegetables. I made sure to pour gravy over my turkey and stuffing and was completely satisfied with my meal. Dessert was not that important to me because I had been including chocolate as it's own food group from the beginning and I was willing to skip it for the stuffing. I ended up eating the same meal for three days straight, and I enjoyed it every single one of those days.

This year will be a little different for me, but I still plan on sticking to my program and balancing my meal. My plan is subject to change but I will be including a Crab and Celery Remoulade as my CM since I will be using celery as a substitute for the pita chips that is normally served with it.

My main meal will begin with a salad and then I will be adding turkey & stuffing w/gravy and some green beans. I may only eat a small amount of stuffing because I will be making a chocolate pecan pie that I haven't decided whether or not I will need to fit into my carbohydrate portion of my meal.

My menu is subject to change, but I do plan on following my program and keeping my meal balanced!

Hey all,
What do you think about time management? Thanksgiving dinner is a BIG DEAL in my home, with many different dishes. Usually enough people show up that I'm eating for hours--no wonder I'm this size now. I'm considering eating just salad and some turkey slices earlier in the day and then the full (but balanced) thanksgiving dinner after more of my mother and my friends have come over.

What do you think?

hi Joy-
I think you should do what works for you- but try not to end up eating an extra meal! this is one of the reasons we eat at 6pm- if we ate at 3 I'd end up with an extra meal.
Do you have to eat with everyone (it sounds like a drop- in thing?)- or can you just have the meal you want when you want it?
Let us know-
