A slowdown is not a plateau. A true plateau is when you're not losing anything at all for a period of a few weeks or more.
Beyond the initial water weight, it's actually quite common for people's rate of loss to wobble a bit along the way. I'm one of the "other" ones in that my weight loss was fairly consistent at about 2lb/week for 8 months straight before it started to level off, but then I didn't have any great jumpstart upfront either.
Regarding finicky eating, one of the things that definitely helped me along my way was to try all sorts of things that were supposed to be good for me under an LCHF regimen. There are a lot of things I don't eat just because I don't like them either: bacon, olives and avocadoes come to mind. But then I discovered a few other things that I do enjoy, like macadamia nuts for example.
If you've tried stuff and found that you don't like most of it, then that's fine. You gotta go with whatever works for you, whatever you find sustainable. I heard an anecdote recently that I think came from a presenter at Low Carb Breckenridge, where someone had a patient that lost weight just by eating bunless burgers from McDonalds. Perhaps not 100% ideal, but it was still an improvement on what he had been eating previously so he still got results.
In any case, patience is key. It took me 15 months to lose my weight. As long as things are improving for you, however fast or slow it may be, you're doing OK.
