Angry Somebody give the whooosh fairy my number please!

Hmmph.......

Well Saturday marked week 3! Weeeeeeeeee!

I finally bought the book, but have only got through the first couple chapters....

I always thought that "induction" which you could stay on for awhile meant 20g carb a day, and only things listed on the list (meat, certain cheese, eggs, certain veggies etc) But then upon reading someone's post, they said "induction" is just the initial 2 weeks, and then you can stay on induction carbs, but add in the other veggies, nuts, and other legal stuff like bars and such. So I gave it a whirl.......been having a bar once a day, for the passed 2 days, and I have been munching on nuts here and there, and also got some green pepper to add to my salads......

The thing is, is that I feel like if I dont stick with the strict induction menu, I am not gonna lose. I have been ever so good, and stuck with it and I am so proud, no cheating at all!

Last tuesday i got on the scale and i weighed 237/238.....today..........240......I have cut out nutrasweet (2 weeks off), except for SF jello, which I have like maybe 3 times a week, and just typical meat (fresh, and some boars head turkey), no salami or anything), eggs, a little bit of cheese, and salads.

If anyone wants to take a look at my fit day please!!!! I try to list it in order of meals, so it looks like it makes sense.....I input most of the info from the boxes too.....but I still dont understand how it subtracts the fiber, because I input the full carb count, not net....

ANyways, I just feel kinda down. I thought I had the hang of this, but in the passed few days I have been hungry and just wanted to munch, and kinda tired with the same old stuff to make in the fridge. Its like, when I am hungry I always seem to have a certain thing in mind, even though i dont really know what it is, and when I open the fridge or the cabinet and see stuff, I am just not in the mood ...Hence, I have been munching on almonds and walnuts throughout the day In the passed 2 days I have had an atkins bar, and I had a carbolite bar last week too
I mean, it tastes so good, and says 0 carbs, but I feel like it is evily running through my body telling all the fat to stay put!!

I feel like its secretly screwing my weightloss!! But I am just in the mood for nuts and stuff!?!? I want to stay on induction level carbs, but does that mean i have to stay on induction list food only!?

I mean I dont mind if it will accelerate the loss

Well, I hope you are all doing well!

Just figured I would give ya an update....At least I can say, I do feel dedicated and feel i can continue on LCing, I just want to do it right and LOSE!!!!!!!

Oh, one more thing....How many ounces of cheese does 3 come out to be in slices? I cant figure out slice vs ounce..... im stupid!

Be well all!

Hi! I think there are two takes on the induction thing. To me, being on induction means only eating what is on the induction lists of acceptable foods. To others, it means staying under 20 carbs, regardless of whether it comes from the induction list or other foods, like nuts and berries. It is really up to you how you interpret it. Of course, I think I am right but the bottom line is it really depends on how your body reacts to the different foods.

As for the bars and such, I think you will find on here that a lot of people avoid them because they cause stalls. I have personally been trying to stick to real foods, not processed foods for the most part. While the carbs might be higher in some nuts than in a bar, I would eat nuts instead of the bar because they are not processed like the stuff in the bar is.

For the cheese, usually 1 slice is 1 ounce or very close to it. To figure it out, take how many ounces are in the pack and divide it by the number of slices. That will give you the number of ounces in each slice.

I hope this helps a little. Don't worry about the ups and downs in your weight. It will all work out in a downward motion in the end!

Amy

You sound alot like me. I was 5 weeks into this and had only lost weight the first two weeks of induction. Last week I tried cutting out cheese altogether and the dietrite soda. Nothing happened. I haven't used the bars or shakes at all and just added a little more veggies from the induction list after the first two weeks. Over the weekend i went back to cheese and my soda and even had some pepperoni. I was so hungry on Saturday that I ate over 3000 calories. Then this morning I finally lost a pound. Who can figure? I'm just commited to staying on this diet until the weight comes off. Probably will take longer than I hoped.

I feel your pain! thanks for responding guys! I guess I will cut out bars (although they are way too convienient and filling) and opt for a more natural style of eating. I am all for convience, and grabbing and stuff. To actually prepare something, well, i get lazy!

Thats why I like turkey, and jerky, and nuts to just grab, oh and the bars of course! But I think this is work the effort, so I am gonna try!

AChio, your take on induction seems pretty logical to me =)

I got my fingers crossed

Hi Toeie,

As you know already, I'm one of those sticking to Induction level carbs, but adding in a few other food items now that I'm into week 6.

However, you should still be careful with these items. I allow myself 2 peanut butter cups (from the recipe forum) twice per week. Other treats are a breakfast shake (cause I get sick of eggs) and a bit of plain yogurt -- again no more than twice a week, not every day. Nuts and berries have also been added to my plan, but in very limited amounts and again, not daily.

Dr. Atkins recommends adding in new foods one at a time to see how they affect you. Right now, it would be hard for you to determine if it's the bars, the nuts, or what causing your slow down. Could also just be your body adjusting.

He recommends adding more veggies first and then moving up the carb ladder as he calls it. You'll find this in your book on the section on OWL.

Good luck!

Bag up those pre-sliced turkey or regular pepperonis into individual baggis and eat them in the car(or table) with 1 serving of peanuts or a oz of string cheese for breakfast (or lunch). If you are allowed more carbs, add a few strawberries or a handful(1/4 cup) blueberries. Have hard-boiled eggs on hand as well as LC seeds (Pumpkin or sunflower). These help in a bind. If you prepare just a teensy bit the night before, the morning meal is as easy as grab and go... like the bars, but without all the "frankenfood" additives. Also, my new favorite raw veggie to have with or without ranch dressing is Brocoliflower, yes the combo of brocoli and cawliflower...nice flavor change! If I see one mor chicken I'll grow feathers!!!!
