Default I'm finally going to cut out grains

upon a kin's suggestion. I found myself up to 134 lbs and was disappointed. I've been doing Atkins for Life and eating oatmeal and whole grain bread, etc. My kin said I should really try DANDR and go that route as it would probably work better for me. So that's what I started doing yesterday. It's amazing. I've had more energy since cutting out the grains.

I don't know if you know this or not, but ATKINS FOR Life is geared toward the individual who has completed the 4 phases of ATkins and who is now in maintenance. I don't know if you have followed thru the phases of Atkins including induction, OWL, finding your CCL, premaintenance and maintenance, or if you just started with AFL.

It is excellent advice from your family member to follow DANDER--particularly induction and OWL--i.e., climbing the carb ladder.

Wheat and grains is the last rung of the carb ladder. For many, this is a rung best avoided due to health, intolerances, sensitivities, the addictive nature of wheat and grains etc. For me, I feel my best, keep my weight and cravings under control up to the 5th rung. Rungs 6,7,8,9 all spell disaster.

My best advice--read your DANDER, fulfill an entire clean induction and follow the carb ladder as writtten. You may find that you may never get back to the wheat/grain rung.

Good Luck!

Lisa

Someone told me that AFL would be good if I had 20 lbs to lose (since it says in the book that it's good to start with AFL if you have 10-20 lbs to lose) and woud give me more variety (at that time, I had 21 lbs to lose) so it seemed to be the right thing...but now I see differently. I've lost 2 lbs since Friday, too-doing DANDR. So I KNOW DANDR is going to work better for me. I'm thankful to my kin who gave me the suggestion!

Yea, grains are mean! lol

I cut out grains before going on Atkins, actually. Dh was having some digestive issues when eating them (bloating, insane weight gain, tummy issues). So we cut them out.

My inexplicable weight gain (6 weeks of 1-2lbs up) stopped. I could eat potatoes, winter squashes, fruits all to satisfaction and maintain weight. It was awesome.

Of course, I wanted to lose weight, so started atkins. So far, so good.
