Default Trying again

Going to try again, it works I have seen it. But I got away from the plan and have regained all and a few.

I am not sure how to go about getting started, and I know this isn't the time of year to do this, I need to try.

I had lost 120 # and put back on 140, now a lot of it is fluid due to other health problems I have. This make exercise difficult.

I think if I can drop some pounds the fluid may be helped.

Just need to figure out how to restart.

I do remember some of the great recipes from here, I will definably be spending time there.

Welcome back and good luck!

Finding good low-carb foods that I can throw together quickly and even prepare ahead has been key for me.

I disagree about this not being the best time to start. All we ever have is today. I've never seen anyone succeed (not to say they don't, I've just never seen it) who says, "I'm going to start a diet/quit smoking/exercise/stop drinking when I turn thirty/Jan 1/next summer . . .

It's just looking yourself in the mirror and saying, "do or die, kiddo . . . " and acting yourself in to believing.

Today seems to me like it's a magnificent day, a perfect day, to start saving your life.

How to begin? Begin with water. Get your water in, preferably hydrate yourself as thoroughly as possible before you start your first meal. If it's too late for that, do your best, try to stop eating before it's too late in the evening, and wake up and hydrate in the a.m. (I start w/warm water, splash of lemon, dash of sweetener, but ymmv.) I also start w/food for the mind--I come on here and read while I drink my water, and get stoked mentally for the day. After that, I have a nurturing, nourishing breakfast (I recommend high-fat, satisfying--maybe a nice dripping-w/cheese omelet w/sausages on the side?) and then give myself time to let that settle. If I start the day out this way, the rest of the day is almost always in the bag. (So I have a variation of brekky that I eat now, but I think that high-fat, mod protein is a great way to get into induction mode.) Then have a good nourishing lunch, do the same with dinner, don't let yourself get too hungry, learn to face the emotions we tend to blot out w/food, and get on here and post a lot. Journals help.

It's simple--not easy, but simple.

Best of luck.

I retain a lot of fluid myself so I feel your pain. Excess fluid makes everything, even the simplest chores and tending to basic needs difficult. I started by ditching added salt in my foods. It has helped somewhat. I also do things like make my own mayo (I eat a lot of devilled eggs) so I can do not have to add salt.
Any time of the year is the best time to start if you feel it is necessary. You *CAN* have a great Christmas being on plan. I know I will be. Start with one meal at a time. That is how I cope and it works.

It won't be as easy this time, about 2 years ago I met a great lady, who we have found has Celiac Disease. Gluten Allergy. So I am trying to work on recipes for her, there aren't wheat, rye barley flours used, but Rice, corn and others that I haven't heard of until recently.

So I will be working with starches and carbs and need to taste to find something that has the right taste.

I have started down the lower carb path, and am going to do this, it may take me a while but i will win this battle again, and hopefully the war.

Thank you all for the encouragement so far, I will no doubt need it.

We all have setbacks, the major thing to remember is that it really is one day at a time, one choice at a time and stay focused on that instead of the big picture. Remeber that you can do this!

Best of luck!
