Default Two Questions

1. Is the BMR of a diabetic the same as the BMR of a non-diabetic of the same age, height and weight?

2. Which occurs first? Lowered Blood Glucose Levels or Weight Loss
(assuming that both occurs, because either can occur without the other)

1.Sometimes yes but also sometimes no.
2.Depends on regimen.Interesting question though.
It appears that lowered glucose would be an after effect of
weight loss.
Both are guesses.
Cheers

Hello Cajunboy,

It has been awhile since I have seen a post from you.

1.) I don't know about BMR diabetic versus non-diabetic. However, I have always had a low BMR and I wonder if that was just part of a bigger picture; metabolic syndrome, which if left unnoticed and untreated is a contributor to obesity and also to diabetes.

2.) I think the lower bg levels come with the weight loss in the case where you are taking off weight. This I have experienced. However, you also must remember the bariatric surgery and the immediate "normalization" of BG. Is it a result of a lot of weight loss real quick in the first few weeks or is there something else going on?

Ralph
