Cool Hello Everyone

Hello! I'm Psyched and well, psyched! Today is my 10th day of Adkins Induction. I've never been able to stay on any diet for 10 straight days, so I'm feeling pretty good about it. Haven't weighed yet, but can tell some of my clothes are fitting more comfortably. My energy level appears to be more stable through the day and I'm not doing nearly the amount of the nervous/boredom snacking I was before.

I can honestly say I haven't missed any of the starches one generally serves with a meal, eg rice, pasta, potatoes. Occasionally I've wanted a dessert but have found that the Adkins snack bars fill that bill nicely for now. Perhaps later I will experiment with some of the Adkins dessert recipes.

I'm glad I found this forum. Everyone seems helpful and friendly. I'm looking forward to giving and receiving support for this WOE.

Hello from Kansas City. Welcome to the Forum. It's a great place to find information, encouragement, and celebration for lo-carb success.

I hope you'll find, as so many of us have, that the goal of Atkins (or any low-carb eating plan) is to revise your way of eating for life. It isn't a "diet" in the traditional sense, but a whole new way of solving nutritional needs and wants. With that in mind, you'll want to avoid trying to replicate traditional high-carb treats or foods with low-carb substitutes.

Good point, Barbara, about not thinking of this as a diet. I really don't want to be in "diet mode" - ever!
