I have to limit the amount of protein I eat for other health reasons so going "all meat" isn't an option. My main sources of protein are omega 3 eggs and cold water wild caught fish. Usually one egg a day and one serving of fish. The rest is now lc veggies and fruit. I'm not as focused for now on low carb fruits, just eating mostly raw or lightly cooked foods. Thanks, Terry (I just eliminated most grains beginning yesterday, although because of needing to eat things my stomach can handle for now, I have small amounts of brown rice or nongluten grain).

Years ago I had mild rosacea that cleared when I started LC and stopped eating sugar and grains. I now eat LC bread but still avoid the sugar. Also coconut oil has helped my skin a lot.

Hi Abby,
Do you eat the coconut oil, use it on your face or both?
How much a day? I just began. I read 3T but that was too much for me. 1T is about what I can comfortably do for now.

How long did it take after eliminating grains and sugar (does that mean fruits too????) before seeing an improvement. Mine is no longer "mild" Thanks for helping. Terry

Terry,

It was many years ago so I can't remember exactly how long it took. I saw a dermatologist about it and tried maybe two medications but saw no improvement. As I said, it was mild so I just let it go. I did Atkins when I first started LCing so I ate no fruit along with no sugar or grains. Almost a year ago, I started a higher fat (Dr.K) WOE which I like much better but I still have very little fruit, sugar or grains.

Regarding the coconut oil, I've only been using it about a year mainly for the fat content. I make CO bark (CO, shredded unsweetened coconut, and xylotol) and have it every morning; I eat about 2tbs. a day. I also use it on my face and neck about 2-3 times a week. I have always had fair, reddish skin and I think the CO has evened my color and certainly softened my skin.

Good luck,
Abby
