Default Lamb, squirrel and beef today. (Photos included)

After spending a long night up with some friends, I go back to my house and in my backyard, there's this cute lil squirrel in a tree, so I go inside the house, grab my .22 cal RSW Air Rifle and load one in, I was gonna shoot the head but I had an idea for the head so I aimed at the thigh and shot, perfect shot, the thing fell down and tried running away for a few seconds, I quickly walked behind it and loaded another one in, aimed at the back of it's neck and shot it, it stopped moving, I poked it with the barrel and put the rifle back in the house.

I got out my bayonet, skinned it, cleaned it and washed it, I cut the body in 4 quarters and kept the skin and skull to make a necklace out of, I know the skull probably wont last that long unless it's reinforced, which I might do, but I'll probably just kill another one and repeat.

Pic 1: Skin, skull and knife drying out, I used 1lb of salt for the skin&skull

Pic 2: I should kill more squirrels next time...

Pic 3: Beef, Lamb and squirrel.....the white stuff is coconut oil, expeller pressed, I also used salt, celery, chilli powder, parsely, pepper and cilantro

Pic 4: Just a close up....

Pic 5: Final product, not bad at all, this is the 1st time I've had fruit and vegetables in a while so I only finished a quarter of that.

Green, red & yellow peppers, chopped cilantro and onions

Strawberries, rasberries, blueberries, blackberries and cherries

Sugar free ketchup and frank's hot sauce.

Dang, did you eat all that yourself? That's an enormous amount of food!

What's the salad-y looking dish?

Yes, but I split between 2 meals total.

The salad-y looking dish is Green, red & yellow peppers, chopped cilantro and onions with the sugar free ketchup and hot sauce mix, the veggies are raw.

I don't hunt, but I love this style of preparation/eating. I got into cooking over an open flame a couple months back. You've inspired me to return, CVH.

Oh my. I miss real meat so badly, and by real meat, I mean anything except chicken. I've had nothing but chicken for the past week or so and I really want some beef.

Ever had rabbit or duck? Its positively delicious.

I had duck tonight *licks lips*

Man...that looked good! Never had squirrel. Is it gamey? Or does it taste like chicken?

I would think it would be a bit gamey. No one I know really bothers with squirrel because you have to get a bunch of them for it to count as any kind of meal, but I'd like to find out. Even though I've never had squirrel, I always thought it might taste something like rabbit.

CVH, how's the Frank's mixed with ketchup? Might have to try that one. I'm a Frank's/mayo gal usually.

Had both, store bought when I was younger, but I got a rabbit from the back yard too and duck about 2 streets from where I used to live, both are great

Tasted like lamb this time, squirrel tastes better than chicken.

Rabbit is better than squirrel, just get a .22 cal pellet gun and shoot one in your backyard and grill it.

Pretty good, I mainly used it because it was being cooked to medium rare because of the squirrel and I needed more "juice".

That is, assuming I live in the middle of nowhere or in the suburbs.

Which I do.

I really need to move out of the city. I wouldn't dare hunt a city squirrel. They shoot back.
