Default I found help for eating out low carb

I am posting a site I found online about eating out Low carb.
Here are just a few things I found on this helpful site.
*Ruby Tuesday and TGIF both have Low carb menus and will even serve whipped cauliflower instead of Mashed Potatos.
*The Hilton has LC Ice cream in 6 flavors just ask.
*IHOP uses pancake batter in their omlets so if you thnk they are low carb they are NOT, they do not put this in the menu, please read their expalination as to why....
*Song Airlines has a LC meal.
* Carls Jr. offers a LC version of the six dolar burger.
* Dominos and Papa Murphys and Papa Johns have a carb light pizza that is 5 carbs for 1/8 of the pizza.
*Blimpies
*Hardees
*Godfathers Pizza
as well as others, this site also has a carb finder link for places like taco bell and wendys. where you can build something low carb and know what and how you will order it when you get there.

I found it interesting but wonder how accurate it is?
I was bothered by the fact that IHOP uses pancake bater in omlets and now I wonder and will ask other laces if they do as well. Not just for us LC ers but what about people eating gluten free diets? I would have never know.
What have you learned about eating out LC?

A lot of the info from that site seems to be from 2004-05, which was the tail end of the "low carb fad". Lots of stores and restaurants have since dropped the low carb choices they were carrying then.

Actually, the IHOP menu does contain the info that their omelets contain pancake batter. It's in small italicized print right at the top of the omelet section. You can ask them to leave that out for you.

Oh, I'm mad at IHOP!!! We go 2 times a month (IHOP or Denny's or Silver Diner) and I almost always get an omelette- What in the world is the POINT of putting pancake batter in an omelette anyway?!?!

Ruby Tuesday has a 'smart eating' menu, not low carb.. they don't label them anymore but if you look on the website, you can figure out some things you can eat when going there.. they also still have the cauliflower.. they also include nutrition information (but they don't have protein amounts).. I prefer to go to Ruby Tuesday for their salad bar anyway so the fact that I actually have some real choice makes me a repeat customer when I'm sick of cooking..

Outback suggests things for people on a 'low carb/high protein' diet as well but they don't include any nutrition information

yay!! so everything seems to match from the ruby tuesday site and some of the items have protein but not all of them

the 'platters' are a bit tricky on the dietfacts.com site b/c some are listed as high carb but it's b/c they include in the platter as stated in the menu which is brown rice/cheese/tomato, garlic bread and usually broccoli... broccoli is good but the garlic bread and brown rice really mislead.. go to the website for ruby tuesday so you can see what the entree alone contains (without sides/bread)

I used to go to my local steakhouse. I live in a small city and there are only two restaurants I can eat at; the steakhouse and a mexican food place. I have to be picky at either place, but it's possible. I would go to the steakhouse and have a steak and a salad.

Management changed, and their homemade blue cheese dressing (watered down quite a bit) which was so yummy, has now been replaced by some bulk-bought typically ultrasugar'd commercial variety. Not only do I despise blue cheese or ranch made into a dessert food with all the sugar modern brands use, but now I can't eat their stupid salad anymore. Sigh.

Of course, I could make my own dressing, and take it with me in a little 4oz Glad container. But frankly, that little chore is more trouble than cooking a steak. Why go out at all.

(gripe gripe gripe)

AND that's why I carry little baggies of food in my purse all the time. You can't trust what they put into the food at restaurants. The guy cooking in the back has no idea what I can and can't eat.

Dollars to donuts, they aren't counting the crust.

IMHO, IHOP can use all the batter they want to in their scrambled eggs cux I always get them poached or over medium. More importantly IHOP has a menu for dieters and low carb is one of the selections. I find that it is best to communicate your wishes to your server. They can be very accomodating. My favorite place for eating low carb food is Polly's which is actually a bakery. I get the steak and eggs with sliced tomato. A baked item comes with it so I ask them to box it up before bringing it to my table. Then I take it home for the kids to eat.

As for people on gluten free diets, they too must speak up so that these businesses can become more accomodating to everyone.
