Default not a newbie...but still have ????

Ok, so I am once again doing Atkins. I don't consider myself a newbie since I was so religious with this before I had my 2 youngest kids BUT....I am wondering something. I have been craving very fattening foods, cheese, bacon that sort of thing. I am making an effort to watch salt, but do you think it is ok to "splurge" on these a bit and then get healthier as times goes on? I already notice a difference with my clothing etc. so am i good??

if you've been on atkins before, why are you considering cheese and bacon to be fattening? atkins allows both, though in moderation is probably best (3-4oz of cheese, and bacon has a good amount of sodium).

it might help you to re-read the book, just to familiarize yourself with the guidelines and basics. trying to do everything from memory can be extremely hard .

I guess I was referring to his slight change in Atkins for Life. In this version is places limits on cheese and encourages a leaner overall approach. I feel like i have been a total pig, i am always freakin eating! BUT i know i have lost, so im not real worried about it at this second. i need to figure out what to do at work, i habitually want to much, and I cant exactly bring meat rollups with me to my desk lol

How about the old standard snacks for dieters, celery sticks and raw vegetables you can still have those on Atkins and they are far less caloric than the cheese and bacon. There's no sense eating so much of those if you don't feel good about it and you're right, they are (for many people) fattening foods IF you eat too much of them. Bacon is also almost nutritionally empty, there's hardly anything in it that will do good things for your body. Did you ever notice how it smells so much better than it tastes

There are certain times of the month, eh hem, where I really crave something sweet. Bacon and the fat it contains really seems to satisfy that craving and I figure it's better to splurge a bit on something like that than to try to really deny my cravings and then blow it with something that contains a sugar alcohol or worse.
At this point, I don't think you should be feeling hungry. Eat when you need to and what the older Atkins books recommend. And remember to keep your fat ratios higher than your protein and keep your carbs low. Atkins is high fat, moderate protein and low carb. Fat always helps me stay fuller, longer!

You could always purchase some lower sodium bacon too...I've seen it at just about every grocery store I frequent.

I guess i'm in the fatkins plan. I don't see anything wrong with eating bacon. I even save bacon grease for frying other foods. I guess it's one of those thing that YMMV.

Myself, i eat eggs and bacon regularly and i did in the past and lost tons of weight.
This time though i've went on to adding more carbs, so it might be different for you.
It's accordiing to what level you are on. If i was still on induction, I would eat as much as i wanted. That's just my opionion though.

I still eat as much fat as i want and bacon is one of the most fattest foods i can think of, well unless you're adding fat to it, which i do at times.

Fat seems to curb my appeitie. I know everyone is different, so just try it and see.

Good luck on your plan.
