Talking Yippee! I made it through Induction

Just wanted to post my progress...

Today is my last day on Induction. I can't believe it! 2 weeks has FLOWN by!

So far, I have lost 15 lbs and I have lost over an inch on my waist and butt! (the official measurements come in tomorrow!) I have had my parents in town with me and hubby for the last week and I have even made it through that. I will admit I have not stuck to the program to the "T". I have had 1/2 of a bottle of Miller Lite and 1 glass of wine during the last week. I also had a hard time at the NASCAR race on Friday and Saturday and allowed myself a couple of handfuls of Kettle Corn. Other than that, I have stuck to the program. I discovered that NASCAR races are not very friendly for folks on low-carb diets. I brought some cheese, beef jerky and low-carb bars to help with the cravings on the second day.

The only problem with having the parents in town is my dad's love of chocolate. There are Snickers Bars and French Silk Pie sitting at home. I decided not to cave into THAT temptation and I have been preparing Atkins Meals for everyone for dinners! Mom did Atkins a couple of years ago and she lost a bunch of weight (from a size 20 down to a size 6, where she currently is at) so she has been helpful. Eating out has been a toughie. Since I can't truly estimate how much carbs are in what, I try to follow the rules of staying away from sauces and dressings, no carby veggies and trying to stick with restaurants that will serve steaks and other meats!

The weight loss wasn't there for about a week, then I realized I was on vacation that week and probably didn't drink enough water or exercise enough. Once I got back to work, I started losing weight again. (I have a pretty active job and do a LOT of walking and climb a LOT of stairs). Now, I have a great dilemma on my hands.. Do I go out and get a pair or two of size 14 jeans or do I just keep wearing the really loose size 16 jeans until I can get into the size 12 jeans? I have NO problems wearing the size 12 shorts, so I think I may go pick up one pair of the new sized jeans.

I haven't added exercise into the plan, yet... Next week, I plan to start ice skating again and do that a few times a week either on my lunch hour or before I head into work. Once I get back onto nights, I will be adding weight training into the routine so that I can tone up my muscles and not have a bunch of loose skin hanging around once the weight is gone.

I am not afraid to go off of induction this time! In fact, I am REALLY looking forward to adding more foods into my WOL and adding a few more carbs into the meals. I have stayed pretty consistantly under 20 carbs per day, so I am looking forward to bumping that up to 25 carbs per day starting tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone on the board! I may not post a bunch, but I really love reading them every day during my lunch hour! EVERYONE has been an inspiration to me!

Woo Hoo!!! Good for you!!! And just a little note, my daughter made me a low carb French Silk Pie for my birthday and it was really delicious!! She made it with a crushed pecan crust that tasted perfect with the chocolate! I have to admit that I ate 3 pieces on that day...and I didn't get out of ketosis!

Keep up the great job - you are really going to make this work!!

Great job! You're learning how to deal with the lowcarb lifestyle in the midst of every other kind of lifestyle. That's essential.

Ice skating, eh? The outdoor rink I use at lunchtime in the winter is closed now. High time I got out the tutu and headed for the indoor rink again. My favorite fitness fun.

Best wishes.
