I'm not really Christian but I follow lots of holidays because they're seasonal and delightful and I like to give that happy feeling to my kids. I want to have some chocolate on that day and it would be fun if it were sweet. Dark choc isn't, really. I've heard of sugar-free chocolate. Has anybody tried any? -- know of good brands?

I've had the Russell Stover sugar free chocolates BUT>>>>>you must pay attention to portion sizes as the sugar alcohols used do have a laxative effect when we each too much of it.

Enjoy ....but be careful!!

I think I've tried most of the SF chocolates out there. If you expect any of them to taste like the real thing, you'll be disappointed. I find the carbs in most of the brands to be quite high, even though they are are S/F. Also, depending on how your body responds to sugar alcohols, which most are made with, you might get an unpleasant surprise. ( lots of people get very upset stomachs etc from sugar alcohol) Most of the big chocolate makers now also make a S/F variety, as well, you can get it from any chocolate store. I'm from Canada so our places might be different than yours. Russell Stover is another big name that alot of people purchase and quite enjoy. Do be careful of carb count though, as I find that some are almost similar to the real chocolate. The other big factor for me is price. YIKES, some of them are triple the price of real chocolate here! Hope that helps somewhat!

Thanks, Judy!

I was really only thinking along the lines of perhaps a piece a day. But this way I could have my own little basket along with the rest of the fam.

We don't all get exactly the same baskets anyway. I mean the 9-month-old won't have a chocolate bunny. He'll have a little basket with some nice chewey toys since he's always teething, and organic baby cookies and jarred fruit.

Then there's DH, who is more into white or dark chocolate than milk chocolate, and more into peanut butter than anyone else.

I even do a basket for my oldest DS, who will be 21 this year. I mail him off these tremendous packages. On Christmas I enclosed a stocking stuffed to the gills. He and all his friends thanked me. (ETA: I also enclose non-sugar items...plenty of them...really bulks things up, and keeps it from being "all" about bad-for-you foods. Just so ya know!)

Oh no no, I know how they taste (I've tried the Hershey ones that you find hanging up on the board in stores--that was when I was on Atkins), and the taste is fine.

I just wanted to know if they would be okay in small quantities for SB--I wasn't sure about the malitol and all that.
