Default Any nursing SBD-ers?

Hi, ladies! I am currently still nursing my 8-month-old about 6-7 times a day, but much of this is "comfort" nursing...I can tell DS isn't always getting a lot...but I guess I am still making milk.

I am probably a bit hungrier on SBD than I would be if I weren't nursing, but so far, it's going pretty much okay.

Anybody else breastfeeding and on SBD? How's it goin' for you?

Well, I haven't tried yet. My second is due in June and I've been following SBD for most of the pregnancy, with a few slip-ups. Anyway, with my first I did Atkins OWL and nursed just fine without feeling hungry. This time I was thinking of staying with Phase 2 of SBD while nursing. If I am hungry I will probably follow a more Atkins style WOL b/c of the higher fat.

Hi ladies. Im trying to figure out what to do myself. Are you able to lose weight and still maintain milk supply?

I'm finally finished, but I nursed for years on Atkins. And I've got to say, the weight never fell off so easily before or since. I had plenty of milk, and no complaints about the taste.

Glendora, chances are your 8 month old is getting plenty of milk, but has got efficient at getting it out of you, so you aren't spending hours nursing him. At 8 months, the bulk of his food is still breastmilk.

I'm not really doing SBD but I'm doing more of a low GI ( diabetic diet) I haven't lost much yet I'm just recently came back . Weight loss has been hard for me. I'm always hungry & I don't get much sleep even though she sleeps the whole night.

She's 8 months also. My milk supply has slowed down since I've added solids to her diet, which has been 2 months now. But I pump & take Milk Thistle to increase my milk.

Love to hear from others on this subject as well.

Don't worry, you have enough milk. After six months of exclusive breastfeeding, your supply is well established, and is now very adaptable. When you want to nurse, you can. When you don't want to, your breasts behave and don't leak all over you.
