Default cabbage soup jump start

I need another jump start, I am going to do the cabbage soup thing to the "T". Meaning, the all fruit day and soup, the all vege day and soup and the all vege and fruit day and soup etc..you know the drill. I need a swift kick in the *** again. I'll let ya know how it goes. The site I got the recipe from said at least 10 pounds down - I'm going to drink a ton of water like it said too. I don't think i ever tried this before. I'll just hop back on low carb when I am done next week.

I did it once in college---don't know why, because I wasn't fat, I only thought so---I was extremely ill and close to passing out on the third day. I think it's a crazy diet.

I think a better way to jump start is to eat nothing but protein and fat for a day or two.

I use to do that diet...knew people tha tlost a TON of weight on it. I think you will be ok becuase it is healthy, but I also agree with the other poster. Meat and eggs for a few days usually puts you in ketosis pretty good and jump starts you.

Let us know if you do this and how it works for ya

I'm afraid of trying that because of the big increase in carbs. I'm afraid it will mess me up. I looked it up on the net and it sounds very interesting. Maybe I'll give it a try this summer when I have lost most of this fat. Stop by my journal and let me know how you do. I'm interested. Thanks.

What? A crash low-fat diet to jum-start a low-carb lifestyle? I certainly dont think it's a "proper" idea. Meat n egg seems to be more suitable if u wanna follow a low-carb plan afterwards!

I totally agree with the posters that recommended meat and egg as a better solution!

But regardless, good luck to ya!

I tried to jump start getting back to low-carb by doing this. I kept cheating on low-carb and bingeing and thought if I could lose a couple pounds it would get me back on track. I bought everything I needed, made the soup, then lasted 1 day. It actually DID help me, because I sooooo appreciated my regular low-carb plan after that! I was starving and shaky after eating soup, grapes, strawberries, apples, etc - all I wanted was a nice steak dipped in butter or some chicken with melted cheese on it. I don't think it will hurt you, but I would suggest not buying all the food you need for the whole week - you might be ready to go back to low carb after a couple days!

I recently had to take my son to the E.R. A girl was in the next "cubicle" we were only separated by the drawn curtains. Her roommate brought her in after she fainted 3 times in one day. She told the Dr. she wasn't doing anything different except she started the "cabbage soup diet" 2 days ago. He had her explain it to him, when he heard it, he told her that is why she is fainting, and to eat something. That her visit was necessary because she was on a crash diet, and it was starving her. He then told her he was calling a dietician to come and talk to her before he would discharge her. She started crying and said that her parents were going to kill her for causing another un-necessary medical bill.

I have done it and let me tell you, it made the induction flu look like a bug bite. I was sooooo nauseas, hungry and shaky on this diet. To this day I want to eat cabbage but have issues with it. I would go the meat and egg route personally but good luck if you decide to give this a go.

I've also tried this diet - sure it works, but um....I felt faint, lightheaded and dizzy most of the time. So much so that I didn't feel like I could go anywhere without having someone with me. After about the third day, you will never want to see another bowl of cabbage soup again...it's just gross. To this day, I cannot stand the thought of that cabbage soup.

I'd have to say that this was the worst diet I've ever tried. Starving like crazy for the first three days, then cold all the time, then lightheadedness and feeling faint. The food's a bit of a rollercoaster too....three days of fruit and veggies (mostly veggies), then you get this weird "all banana" day, which amps up the sugar, and puts you on a bit of a roller coaster...then the day after that you switch to all the beef and vegetables you can eat - quickly switching from banana city (high carb, high sugar) to a very low-carb day.

It's nuts.

Try something else - like Atkins KISS, or even meat & eggs for a few days.

I'm still going to try it - I'm a rebel! Besides, it's not JUST SOUP. Here is the plan:
day 1 - fruit, water and soup. However much of any
day 2 - veggies, water and soup (No beans, peas or corn) However uch of any
day 3 - same as day 1 and 2 combined.
day 4 - 8 bananas, skim milk and soup - as much skim and soup as ya want
day 5 - 10 to 20 ounces of beef, chx or fish, water and soup and six tomatoes
day 6 steak and veggies all day and soup too
day 7 brown rice and veggies all day.

always drink ton of water

I think they have modified it, i would never try the JUST SOUP either!

No, that's the way the "cabbage soup diet" has always been presented as far as I know. I tried this one back in the early nineties, and I will tell you I had all the same stuff the others here are talking about.

And let me tell you by day three you are SO SICK of that soup you just want to...well you get the idea.

I know you didn't ask for any suggestions, but I am going to give you one anyway....

Please make sure you have a good variety of meats and cheeses (you will already have the proper veggies) on hand in case you decide on your own to break the cabbage soup diet three days in. That way, you won't be so tempted to binge on things you know you should not be eating.

Hope all goes well for you!

by the way, seems like plenty of food and water to me, so what is with the light headedness and fainting?
