Default look what gossip ive heared this morning!

WELL I NEVER! i was watching GMTV which is like an early morning breakfast show, i was shocked to here that women that eat more red meats than normal are MORE likey to contract breast cancer!

Now ive not long started this plan and its going fastastic im well in to my 2nd week of induction, and already feeling the benifits however to be woken up with this shock when ive only just come around to the benifits on eating more meats etc now im being fed that its bad for me.

I think if your going to get cancer you just get it no matter what your diet or lifestyle HOWEVER there are contributing facters that will make you more at risk. but really? MEAT???????? what the hell. its good for u

Default also something disturbing.....

i was just googling for Dr Atkins becuase i have know idea what he looks like.........and found this website which is horrible saying basicaly how Dr Atkins died from his own diet!! whats going on??

I dont want that to happen to me or are they trying to scare people, the man was what 71? (this website says)..and had a bloackage? or sumthink that was due to low carb diets. i can not see how having a low carb diet would give you that, you are just buring off fat and so much fat that it dosn't give a chance to block? which is the impresion i get.please correct me people. heres the disturbing website have a look for your self then say what you think

Shelywelly,

The PCRM and Neal Barnard are vegan fanatics. Believe nothing that they say.

shely, dr. atkins did not die from his own diet, he died because he slipped on a patch of ice outside his house, hit his head, went into a coma, and died 3 weeks later. no diet in the world is going to prevent that.

go through the posts other people have made after they get their bloodwork done... just about every one of us have LOWERED our bad cholesterol and increased our good. our hearts are far healthier than anyone expected.

as far as the breast cancer study goes, check out the thread in the "media" section... there's a link to the actual study. based on the findings, it showed that the risk for one type of breast cancer did rise but only by a VERY tiny amount, while the risk for another type of breast cancer actually went down. that news thing you heard could have just as easily said "red meat prevents breast cancer", but that's not very sexy as far as news goes... and heaven forbid anyone really come out saying that meat is good for us *eyeroll*.

And did they by any chance say how much meat is considered normal? Are you eating more than they recommend?

If so you can easily change this by choosing different meats.

Personally I eat very little 'red meat' if by that they meant beef and steaks - we eat mainly chicken, pork and fish. I think the last time I ate beef was several months ago!

Shely, I see that you haven't picked a low-carb plan yet. If you will read books related to various well-respected low-carb plans, you'll have information to use against the fear-mongers in the media, and you'll be more successful at establishing an effective low-carb eating lifestyle.

I like Atkins, because it is simple and designed to teach you how to eat forever and maintain the weight loss you achieve. However, there are other popular plans like South Beach, Protein Power, and Schwarzbein.

Best wishes.

They blamed the problem with red meat on the hormones they are injected with to make them grow faster. They now slaughter the cattle 9 months earlier thatn they used to. Although I eat red meat I am concerned about that, especially for my grand daughter. They say that is one of the reasons girls are maturing earlier. Makes sense to me.

I do believe the woman in the study were also consuming over 175 cabs a day- some WAY over that.

Dont believe the hype- the news sells commercial space. The news has increased stories of murder by 600% when murder has decreased something like 20-30%

I watched the headlines a couple of months ago about how the patch for birth control actually had a risk for some life threatening situation TWICE than what was reported. If you would have just listened to the news bites - one would think women were dropping dead all over the place. I watched the story and the increase went from 1 in 10,000 to 2 in 10,000. That is going from .001% to .002%- come on!! You have a better chance of being kidnapped by aliens!

Fear gets people to watch and that equals higher viewership which equals more $ for commercial spots.

If you think the news now a days is actually there to inform you with real data- I have a bridge to sell you

Michelle - to change the plan to Atkins you need clikc on the link 'User CP' at the top of the page and then select 'Edit profile'.

Scroll down to the LC Plan box and alter the LC plan you are on then save the changes.
