Question induction + exercise = no weight loss?

I've achieved success with Atkins a few different times and after falling off the wagon for over a year, I'm back on. I always lost about the average amount of weight, around 6 -8 pounds during that phase. I'm a few days past completing induction and I exercised hard 10 of the 14 days, various aerobics classes, including spin and some light group weight training. I lost absolutely no weight during induction. I checked and I am in ketosis. Before when I started Atkins, I was not including exercise and the weight fell quickly. This is also the first time during induction that I have not felt the "flu". I have experienced stalls before with exercise, but never for two weeks. My main source of carbs comes from accepted foods in the form of salads. I do have trouble eating 5 times a day and I wonder if maybe I'm not eating enough? Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this or has any ideas of what may be preventing/slowing the weight loss.

Thanks,
AtlantaJ

Not really sure what is going on with you but I understand that exercise causes your muscles to hang on to water. Since a lot of the weight loss during induction is usually water weight I would guess that your muscles are holding on tight. If it were me, I would go really heavy on the water drinking to see if I could entice some reaction that way. I am not any kind of professional...this is just a suggestion. Best wishes.

I've mentioned this on another thread about weight fluctuations but I'll say it again. Make sure you rest properly, especially if you're doing weight training. Your body, your muscles, need time to heal. So be sure you're alternating and drinking lots of water. When you exercise you should be drinking at least a few cups for that alone (one prior, one during and one after, depending on intensity) in addition to whatever you're drinking the rest of the day.

Any other advice is difficult without seeing your menu and knowing your routine. But just don't get discouraged as there are so many factors at play.

Thank you both for your replies. I will try to increase my water intake. Since starting my workouts, I do sleep 9 hours, my body doesn't want to move in the morning without it. I hope my body is changing anyway and the pounds will fall later.

Here's something else to keep in mind.

Many of us veteran low-carbers now consider it a lifestyle. It took a long time to convert my head from "diet" to "new way of life." Once I did, I discovered a weight management strategy that continues to serve me well, four years down the road.

So...give yourself time. Be patient. Weight loss is only one of many benefits of low-carb eating. Your body will find its own way.

I have heard people talk about 4-6 ounces being a 'usual' serving of meat/fish/chicken on htese boards.

But according to the rules of induction you should eat some carbs (some of your 3 cups of veggies) with some protein and some fat, aiming at a 65%/30%/5% ratio of fat/protein/carbs

so a cup or so of veggies plus a 4-6 ounce portion of meat with added fat (butter, oil, mayo?) if the meat is fairly lean.

Do you know where you are eating? If so call ahead and ask what will be available so you can plan your order in your head in advance and take the guesswork out of it!

You could try entering an idea of what you usually would choose into My PLAN on this board or www.fitday.com to see what your 'usual' ratio is and add or deduct fat to get it about right.
