Default Has anyone stayed on Induction the entire time?

I have been on Atkins since June 4th and I have stayed on induction the entire time. I have done so for two reasons:

1) It is working
2) I have no desire to increase my carbs

I am wondering, have any of you stayed on induction until you reached goal? Did you encounter any stalls? I have read that increasing carbs may help with stalls. I am worried that I will stall given that it has been such a smooth journey for me thus far (2 pounds lost a week). Last, once you reached goal, was it hard to adjust into maintenance?

I can only give you my own experience of this....I am not talking for everyone here.

I stayed on atkins induction for 14 months. I should have moved into the second phase, for two reasons. My body got stuck about 5 months in - I lost 50lbs really quickly in that 6 months and then nothing for the following 6 months. I then upped my carbs a little and saw a very slow loss of 10lbs over the remaining 2 months, but if I knew what I know now, I would have saved myself the grief and just moved into the second phase and had done with it!

I then in sheer desperation to get the scale moving again went to a different plan, and lost 40lbs very quickly. I moved to South Beach which was unlimited carbs (of the correct kind) but lower in fat.

I think in summary, if what you are doing works for you at the moment, stick with it....if you find after a while you stall out, experiment with what helps you start moving again.

If you are finding that induction is working for you and you are enjoying it, then there is no harm in carrying it on!

Hope that helps

Thank you so much for replying. Given that I only have 20 pounds to go, I am crossing my fingers that I will not stall before I reach goal. We are taking a cruise over the holidays and it is my goal to be 125 (and in my bikini) by then.... If the weight continues to drop as it has over the past four months, I will be at goal December 9th. Great job with your success by the way!

I stayed at induction for 5 months to lose all the way to 145, then only added 1/2 cup of strawberries in lc yogurt and 1/2 cup almonds but stay at induction the rest of the day until I hit 137 then all hell broke loose!

I have been at induction levels or much lower. I try to keep my carbs less than 10 a day to keep losing. I feel great, have lots of energy, sleep well and have not gained. I want to lose about another 10 lbs and then see how I feel. 45.5 lbs lost since May 19. Guess it works for me!

My first time around with low carb felt easy cause I was smoking my cravings away. But doing it smoke free now is a bit more work for me. I stayed close to induction levels then and made it to goal. Now Im back "once again" to get back there while using the carb ladder . Maybe I'll learn a thing or two huh?

I've found that my CCL is very low. I'm not sure if i'll have to adjust my calorie intake if I do stall or what? I'm pretty close to goal to, about 24 pounds.
But this is my longest cheat free on Atkins in over a year and a half. So hopefully I can just stay on induction until goal (or close to) and then start adding carbs back after that.

Since I'm not losing on no added carbs and eating less than 1400 cals a day, I imagine I'll have to stay on Induction (or lower).

I have noticed on these boards that many people who stay on induction till they reach goal have problems maintaining their goal weight as they have not gone through the second stage of Atkins and learned how their body reacts to adding foods not on the induction list!!

I am on the third stage of Atkins (premaintenance) and have found the amount of foods like grains and fruits I can eat and not gain weight, so I hope to be able to keep the weight off once I move to the maintenance stage of Atkins and be one of that 5% of people who manage not to 'pile on the pounds' once they start eating 'normally'.

Remember that if you revert to whatever your 'normal' pre-Atkins eating habits were you will probably get the same results (becoming overweight) as you did before Atkins!!

I am currently doing induction levels, but I plan on starting with OWL when I have about 30 lbs left to lose. It is too important to me to make sure this is a lifestyle change and make LASTING, PERMANENT CHANGES to my old WOE. I want to be able to get to my goal weight and be able to maintain easily (at least in food aspects - I suspect emotional aspects will be a bit more difficult).

I don't want to be one of those people that uses LC for a quick weight loss and then believe that now I am skinny I can maintain easily. I know that I need to teach myself the correct way to do this by following the plan.

I cheated "myself" all the previous times that i tried LCing and never got results. I'm doing the plan as is now, but as always had the problem of not eating 20g Net Carbs daily. Now that i'm in phase 2, i'm working on adding more "acceptable" foods and getting the extra carbs from there. This morning i had a low carb yogurt (5g carbs) with eggs for breakfast.

The one thing i know for sure is that high carb foods don't work for me and i have finally accepted this truth. I cannot make rice, bread and pasta my staple and lose weight.
