Mixing w/ milk instead of water and adding peanut butter makes it like a milkshake, but has tooo many carbs (15-25g depending on how much milk/pb). I just use with plain tap water and it tastes great. Less water = thicker and more shake like.

People use 1 scoop in a bunch of reciepes though, checkout the kitchen forum (i think it's called).

i LOVE "designer whey protein" in chocolate. i get it at trader joes.

i mix 1 scoop of protein powder, 1-1/2 cup cold water, 1 tsp natural peanut butter and 3 ice cubes and it's fantastic!! i think that has about 20 grams protein and about 5 grams of carbs (only 2 grams of carbs if you leave out the peanut butter, but i think it's worth it).

I add coconut milk to my protein whey mix (chocolate). It doesn't really add much taste but adds fat. I get the canned coconut milk at Walmart - it's not very expensive.

Hemp, milk, or egg protien powders for shakes are also available and are nice for a change of pace or for if you are sensitive to soy or whey.

I like to use the Body Fortress Whey Protein powder at WalMart or Target. Cheap and tasty.

I pop a scoop in the blender along with about a cup of crushed ice, 2 T. cream, 2 T. DaVinci's and about 1/2 cup H2O. Then just flavor with whatever I have on hand. Chocolate powder is especially yummy with a T. extra cocoa powder (3 g carbs + lots of antioxidants). Also great with frozen strawberries tossed in while still frozen whole.

Vanilla is great with frozen blueberries or strawberries tossed in. Going to try peanut butter one of these times, just haven't gotten around to it. I make smoothies for the kids with a banana, but that's too carby for me.

Blending is crucial. Blend it a good, long time so you don't have big ice chunks...makes it creamier and more like a milkshake.

Wow!

You people sure have some great ideas! I just got a big can of Vanilla Whey Protein at Wally World.........Yummm! Brand...Six Stars for about $15. Good just like it is, but I like the chocolate and the coconut idea! I just ordered the DaVinci s/f syrups that unfortunately my WalMart seems not be stocking any longer! Sheesh! Waiting on those from Netrition.com which is cheaper than Davinci website! A friend told me that they carry them at Marshall's for those of you who have those nearby? I would have to drive 30-40 mins either way if I went to Daytona or Orlando.....

Thanks for the great ideas!
Annie
