Hi dhania!

I wish I could start clean with you on the 25th, but I absolutely know I will have wine on the 26th and July 1-4. I am planning to start clean (w/out wine for two weeks!) on July 5th! I'm not sure that will help you, but I will be sticking to induction food until then, with a few added beverages! I just joined the 2006 Summer Challenge on the challenge thread and it goes until Aug 23rd..3 months from today! Check it out!

Good luck and and I'm rooting for you!!

well, then, welcome to the show :-)

I am preparing for tomorrow by some cleaning up, but only virtually . Got myself a 300 gig usb harddrive for backups, and now I am doing a format c: on my laptop because windows behaved somewhat strangely in the last weeks.

While I am reinstalling stuff (Iam typing at my linux desktop machine) I'll watch a little soccer worldcup and plan my menus for the next week, as well as the menu for my hubby who needs lunch boxes and some carbs.

Every Tuesday I get a box of organic veggies delivered to my door, most time sincluding carrots. I guess hubby will have to do some serious carrot eating over the next weeks. (say carrot cake...)

Hope you all have a great weekend or at least a wonderful Sunday. My next door neighbor promised to lend me his Canon Rebel XT for the day so I'll be outdoors walking and taking pix.

Hi everyone!

Please count me in, too, I really want to do it this time - the longest I've managed to last is 8 days. Please help me to last longer! I'm going to start tomorrow Mon 26th and want to stick with it!!

Good morning to y'all,

how are you doing today?

Chezza: 8 days max? what makes it so hard for you to stay on plan? Really, although I believe low carb is best for you, you need to find a plan you can stick to for the rest of your life. So if you are serious about this, you have to make a commitment - and find out what is bothering you with Atkins. Mayb you and we can shed some light on this and help you with tuning in to the low carb way of life?

Allymich, great to have you among us, you seem to be one dedicated Atkineer - so you look like a real morale booster. Congrats on your weight loss so far!

lf9312, what's it like on day 5 of induction?

vinobacio, July 5th is fine with me, welcome, too.

I have a business date on July 12th, actually a food show in a local mall where I have to attend as a journalist and will be expected to taste the offerings. I sure hope I can steer my way from the carb and junk food, but I guess I will have to taste some of the wines if I want to do my job seriously...

I am sipping iced herbal tea right now and my shoulder is sore from carrying a huge camera which isn't mine around all day yesterday. It was good fun to try some other gear.
Lunch was a beef and bell pepper stir fry, not too bad, either :-)

Hi dhania,

I have to confess I'm starting Tues 27th now as I woke up this morning feeling a bit ill and my hubby nagged me not to start my 'silly diet' until tomorrow, so I gave in...but I'm serious about doing it tomorrow so watch this space!!

As for me doing lc for only 8 days max, I suppose a lot of times it's been before a holiday because I seem to lose weight really quickly on it and I see it as a quick fix. I then go back to 'normal' eating and tend to be able to stay the same weight. Trouble is, I've just had my 2nd baby (I say just - she's almost 6 months!) and have all the baby weight to lose again, so here I am back on Atkins. I suppose I do see it as a diet more than a way of eating to stick with permanently, so that's probably why I'm not always so committed.

But another BIG problem is that at first I feel really weak and gross, and also that I end up really hating the food - meat, bacon, fish, eggs, salad, green veggies - I just can't bear to eat them after a while! I really miss things like fruit and milk and bread and feel like I'm missing out I suppose. How does everyone else cope with induction boredom? How do you keep at it day after day, week after week and not get totally fed up?!! (of course, losing weight is good motivation!!!!)

But I am determined to beat my 8 day record this time! Well done Allymich, you're a real inspiration!

I got around the problem by skipping Induction and going straight to OWL. I got into ketosis though so I don't suppose it hurt much. I've never been able to get down to 20g carbs a day, and now I like veggies too much to ever get down that low.

that's cool... i know i can do induction...i just sorta made a conscious decision to cheat this one day. it wasn't just one little thing, either. :-P it's okay though. i was good today, and i will continue to be. being as tired and over worked as i was this past weekend, that sugar hit my bloodstream like a ton of bricks and within a half hour i could barely keep my eyes open...it was like i was drugged.

so yeah...it was good, but bad...and i'm okay with it.

but that reminds me...i should really eat a salad soon...i haven't eaten much since i woke up about 8.5 hrs ago...

Default All geared up.. bring it!...

Well Ladies the Challenge has begun .. gosh I'm even more paranoid now of not coming out of ketosis .. every time a go to the bathroom I test for ketones..
I also went shopping today for food.. boy this is expensive.. (shrimp, steaks, coconut oil, sour cream, stevia ) $75 gone bye bye ... but I deserve it.. this is just an investment of my heath, my body, my sanity, my self esteem...and over all my happiness.. so yeah I'm broke for the rest of the week but I feel like this week is going to be good..I'm hoping to at least get down 2 pounds off.. I feel like we are all working so hard here that I need to have/show some results...
to all you gurls.. hope this week goes well for you as well...
and as far as the sweet cravings .. well I had some today. so I made one of the recipes posted here in the site...a really delicious coconut pudding.. hopefully that won't affect my weight lost.. but I figure I might as well get used to cooking low carb dessert for those times the graving come in...
hope you gurls don't give in into regular dessert and start experimenting in the kitchen as well.. so we can kick some tush...
ohh by the way .. how much.. if any.. exercise are you gurls doing (me .. Nada, zippo.. so far .. aurrg)

cheers!
