Default Ever since I got pregnant...

...I have been having A LOT of trouble balancing my meals.

I just seem to want more carbs. A few times I've tried to restrain myself and ironically, that's when I gained weight.

The other thing is that as every pregnant woman knows, "dry" carbs (breads, rice, etc.) are a whole lot easier to keep down than anything else, but I just can't do the "snack all day long on carbs" thing that's recommended. I feel horrible, I even feel mentally horrible when I do that so I know it's not good for me or the baby. So by the end of the day...I'm really pretty hungry and ready to wolf down my carbs and have one meal where I don't feel sick afterward!

Can any other women here relate? I gained 70 lbs. with my first pregnancy and 50 lbs. with the second and I'm terrified of gaining this time b/c I am starting out so much heavier. I'm so hungry.

This is the point where you need supplements. It looks like your body is crying out for some nutrient and that might be where the hunger is coming from. The baby is growing and you need extra. A lot of studies are saying that prenatal vitamins don't contain adequate amounts.

calcium 1800 mg
magnesium 900-1300 mg
vitamin D 2000-4000 IU
folic acid 800 mcg
vitamin C 2000 mg
good multivitamin with minerals and iron in 2 pill dose - take three
omega oils (fish, flax and borage)
GTF Chromium 200-400 mcg

Make sure you eat enough at CM to carry you to the next mean. You can take l-glutimine to help with the cravings.

Thank you, Zulieka! I am taking a prenantal vitamin but the doses aren't as high as the ones you listed. I'm going to do some research on that. I hadn't thought about needing nutrients. (Weird thing NOT to think of but hey...my mind's been in a bit of a tizzy lately...)
