Default Hello from Flower51

I posted this over in the fifty thread but I thought I'd say hi here too....

Hi all I'm new here...just my second post on the board. I am so happy to find 50-something + ladies here! I definitely notice that my body does not respond to lcing as quickly as it did when I was younger and I think it will help me feel less frustrated about that fact with others who are experiencing the same thing. What keeps me lcing is that I feel so much better eating this way. A little about me....I'm a regular poster on Lowcarb Christians where I've made some good friends. I've been a SAHM most of my life except for very occasional part time jobs while my kids were in school.

My "kids" are now 26 and 21 sons who live at home while finishing college studies. Our oldest is getting married soon to his sweetheart from Korea.
She is kind and helpful and I'm happy for this new daughter who is such a joy to our family. I met my dh when I was 17 and we've been married since 71.

Our other "kids" are our three rescued dogs (ages 17 to 3). I like to garden and work on keeping things up in our old house, read, write and have scrabble tournaments w/my friend Ruth at Arabica.

Its taken a couple of years to lose about 35 pounds and I have a lot more to go....Exercise tones me up and helps me feel energetic but doesn't seem to effect my weight. I am hoping to lower my bp and cholesterol as I continue lcing and be able to eventually stop medicines which control the bp. Anybody out there taking supplements for bp that have seen an improvement? Glad to meet you all.... Terry aka Flower51

Certainly I can appreciate the slower loss of a "mature" individual, but, as you said, it is still worth the trouble as you feel better en route and usually blood profiles are improved.

I am a mid-50's empty nester who is possibly a slow learner. I've been working on approximately 10 pounds since late November. It actually took me a couple of months to get the hang of things. Even I have found lots of support here on the Forum.

Good luck reaching your goals and enjoying the journal...after all as Noel Coward's characters once said (loosely quoted):

(Person #1) "I think life was meant to be lived, don't you?"
(Person #2) "It would be hard to think so something else to do with it"

Thanks for the "hello"....I'm also posting in the triple digits thread and the christians thread. Still deciding about journaling since I already journal at low carb christians. I'd like to make friends here too but I don't want to become obsessive about weight matters....consceinscous yes, obsessive no! One journal may be enough, we'll see. Terry
