Plan: Special Dr. Ordered Diet

BF:MUCH too much :(

Default What's the point?

I have not lost anything the past two weeks. It is very frustrating. It is not like I only have a few poundsto lose and that's the reason it is slow. I have over a hundred to lose. I'm keeping my carbs down and exercising. I'm getting very frustrated and close to the quitting point.

Here is what I ate the past 2 days:
Friday Saturday
1 egg = 1 carb 1 egg w/pepper = 2 carbs (approx)
1 cup raw veggies = 3 carbs small cube steak = 0 carbs
pepperoni = 0 carbs broiled scrod = 0 carbs
salad = 3 carbs choc reddy whip = 3 carbs
baked scrod = 0 carbs TOTAL 5 CARBS
TOTAL 7 CARBS 4 green tea supplements
4 green tea supplements 1/2 -3/4 of gal of green tea
1/2 -3/4 of gal of green tea walked 6 miles
walked 6 miles

The ketone strips are changing and say I'm burning, but the stupid scale won't budge.

I know my carbs are alittle low. I usually try to keep it at 10. At 20 carbs I wasn't losing and at more than 20 I was gaining.

Please help! Give me words of encouragement so I don't quit!

It may be that your calories are too low. I was just looking at your menu for the past couple of days, and I don't see a lot of fat, nor do I see much in the way of calories.

Have you tried utilizing either FitDay or My P.L.A.N to track your food intake? My P.L.A.N. is available here on these forums (makes it a bit more convenient)...it's in the green bar above...right next to the link to the "Gallery".

I'm struggling with this too...I'm really working on managing my carb intake, but I do struggle to eat more than 1,000 calories per day (which is way too low).

I also mistakenly thought that I should maybe cut out the cream in my coffee or reduce the creamy salad dressings I was using ...that is, until I started tracking my food intake with My P.L.A.N. I was kind of surprised to discover that my calories are too low..(that's the last thing I expected).

Anyway, too few calories can cause your body to slow down it's metabolism, resulting in sluggish, or no weight loss.

Maybe add some cheese? Or if you're really watching those carbs like a hawk and don't want the extra 1 carb in that slice of cheese...perhaps increase your fat intake (mayo, butter, salad dressing etc. )

Good luck with this.

Make sure you measure too. I didn't lost one single lb for weeks and measured in 10" smaller. It might be that your body is just taking it's own time to re-adjust to the weight loss.
Keep going ,you're doing well!

Hey Angel girl!!!

Don't give up just yet. I'm on my second week and actually gained 3lbs this week... But I lost 2 inches overall since last week... I also took a look at what I was eating and I decided to cut out the processed meats. They're SO high in sodium...
Kepp on going you're doing great!!!

This may not exactly be what you wanted to hear, but: What else works? I'm not here because I've had great weight loss, exactly; I'm here because I can live a better life on a LC WOE than I have EVER been able to do on ANY other form of restricted food intake. If WW or LF had worked for me, I'd likely still be doing them.

I know pretty much how I gained the weight; I realize it's not coming off steadily (I eat too much and don't exercise enough, no surprise) but regardless of what happens to the scale, my overall stability and mood and energy level is SO MUCH BETTER eating LC that there's simply no choice for me.

I think significant weight loss is a MASSIVE shift in our lives and sometimes our bodies hold back because they know our minds need time to catch up and process some of the crap that comes up as we lose weight.

Good luck.

Actually, all that green tea my easily be stalling you. I would suggest sticking with just one or two cups. Tea has sulfites in it and they can very much hinder weight loss. Additionally, you may want to just give this WOE a go without trying to control your appetite (which is what green tea supplements propose to do), because this WOE will actually correct your body's metabolism. Were I in your shoes, I'd perhaps give another induction a try -- and try to make those 20 carbs a day. It's very important that you follow this to the letter, as it was designed to work. I know many folks use various appetite suppressants, carb blockers, fat blockers to try to speed up the success on this WOE, but if you do it the long way, the results will last because your body will be repaired and your metabolism will get it's own "life" back.

Best of luck to you.

I found I lost best with my fat percentage at 65-70%. I also suggest, as others have, to measure, measure, measure! I either lose weight OR inches, but not both at the same time. I tracked it really closely the first year. Measure your waist, hips, thigh and wrist. Once I couldn't find any loss in weight or measurements except my wrist. D'oh!

With excersize, you are also building muscle and that might keep the scale where it is for a while. Don't weigh every day-try just once a week-same day, same time of day.

Chocolate reddi whip is made with sugar. While the carbs are low it's spiking your blood sugars everytime you have it, so you're not keeping your metabolism at an even burn. You also say it's 3 carbs, is that 1 carb per tablespoon? 1 tablespoon is the size of a quarter.

I also don't think you're eating enough. Not enough calories = a slow down in metabolism also as it's trying to hold on to enough calories to live on.

Are you measuring yourself? Many times people will lose inches and not pounds. Also most people don't lose lbs everyday...some only every week or every other week, I'm the latter. I would only lose every couple weeks but still had an average loss of 2 lbs per week.

BTW...1 cup raw veggies does have carbs, up to 7 or 8 depending on the veggies. But that is NOT where your problem lies.

Oh, and there's really no difference in 10 or 20 carbs...it really does have to do with where you're getting those carbs from.

Up your calories. I stalled for over a year because I was trying to eat between 1,000 and 1200 calories. I upped it to around 1500 and have lost 5.5 pounds in the last two weeks.

I'm going to try to up my calories a little and eliminate the chocolate redi whip. I'm not taking the green tea for appetite control. I read on here it helps to burn fat. I'm so close to quitting. I was down 21 pounds. Now I'm back up to 19.4 Why am I exercising my butt off and eating right if I'm not going to be rewarded on the scale? GRRRRRRRRRR........ I so want to quit. If I don't lose soon I'm likely to fall off the wagon.

Hey Angelgirl!!!
You've already lsot 19.4 el bees. That is a big accomplishment!!! Good for you!!! Dont quit now!!!

Now when DW and I started, the weight fell off of me, but DW didn't lose much initially. However, she was losing inches off all over her body. Did you take body measurements before you started this WOL? I did not, and wish I had done so.

Also make sure you get some green veggies - brocolli, green beans, spinach, asperagus, cabbage, cauliflower are all excellent choices and give you lots of variety.

The small weight gain you mentioned...could it be from lean muscle mass that you are building from the exercises you are doing? Something to consider...

Also, Im not just doing this for weight loss, but for overall better health. Take a look at my signature line to check out my cholesterol reading to see what I'm talking about.

Good luck on this journey!!!

I'll try this again from a different point of view.

If it works for you, go do it. Have fun. Go eat those Krispy Kremes, sit on the couch, watch your blood lipids soar, wait for IR to start.

We'll be here if you decide it's not so great back in the HC world.
