Default I'm new here but my yeast is OLD!

Hello all,

I figured I would introduce myself. My name is Jan and I am a Yeast-a-holic! I love everything made with yeast and sugar and as you may know, I can't have it. It truely is a sad state for me. I have been tormented with this since I had my first child, 13 YEARS AGO!

My symptoms started way back when I was in my teens but didn't know it until finally, they made their way to my skin of which, is very hard to ignore. I went to every doctor I could find. I have tried every cream available and ALL the doctors were stumped until ONE fateful day.

Let me tell you, I started cleaning a doctor's office near me who was a "holistic Chiropractor". Months of cleaning only made my hands much worse, even with latex free, rubber free gloves. I finally went up to him and asked him what he thought about it. For the first time in years of searching, this man TOLD ME MY SYMPTOMS and how they occur! I was shocked and I agreed in amazement! He then told me those dreaded words... "YOOOUUUU HHHAAAAAVVVEEE AAAAA CCCCAAAAANNNNDDDDIIIIDDDAAAA YYYYEEEEEAAAASSSSTTTTT OOOOVVVVEEEERRRRGGGGRRRROOOOWWWWTTTTTHHHHHH!" Of course I said, "WHAT the heck is that?"

After he explained it and told me what to do, I felt hope. Since then, that was around 2001; I have been losing this fight and feeling quite bad. I am way to weak for this diet and I am losing weight that I don't even have to lose! I always feel tierd, hungry and cold with constant boughts of constipation, and I have been looking at ThreeLac with a much more enthused itchy eye. I get so confussed as to what to eat and when to eat it and bla bla bla that I am STARVING myself, forget about the Candida! Does anyone have any success stories about ThreeLac?

Even better, does anyone have any DELICIOUS recipes as I feel like a leaf eating rabbit that doesn't exactly look as happy as a rabbit eating it.

I know that there is no substitute for healthy eating and that is partly the reason I am here today but, I can't wait until I can actually start to eat fruit and natural sugars again. It seems so far away.

Thanks for all your help,

Jan1

Default Our Carb Problems Might Cause Problems In Our Kidz

So, Jan, How iz That First Child?

Both mine had learning problems. I had bad vaginal yeast problems with the second pregnancy and she was born with cradle cap. I think both my kidz had yeast issues as a result of mine. They're fine now but it took heroic efforts to get there.

Blessings,
Artful

Default Welcome Jan1

Sorry your battle has been so bad. i hope you can find some answers here by searching threads when you can. ITs a lot of reading. I have been dealing with my Candida since Aug but have had it for like 10 years. All due to antibiotics for years for acne and then for sinus problems then added the dreaded steriods. Its been a huge battle.

My MD, who does only holistic practices now, has given me Nystatin and a bunch of stuff to take. She does applied kinseology but I am not totally sold on that yet. The Nystatin has helped and so has the other supplements.

I have been low carbing for over 1 1/2 years but since I have stopped Splenda I have been doing better. What does your diet consist of? Do you have any books on Candida? If not you can check out your library first before you by. The yeast connection and the women is a good place to start. Curezone.com, yeastconnection.com and just searching on google.com for anything to do with Candida. I make some "treats" using coconut oil for chocolate. You can find that posted about a month back. Unless they moved it. i also posted a message for almond crackers. They did move that. Oh yea...www.wholeapproach.com has some different recipes that I have used and changed to my liking.

Hope this helps and hope you do well.

Blessings,
Carol
Ps...I believe I gave my daughter candida by breast feeding her 3 years ago. I read that you can pass that on to your children. She has a small rash in her diaper area and dark circles under her eyes. She also acts up alot and I must keep her diet in check. I am looking into helping her with some natural ways and keeping her off as much sugar as I can.

Default More on My Saga...

Oh, I don't see it as having been a battle! -- OR bad! I see it as a wonderful journey. My own Advance Placement course in how to be the best Artful I can be... How to Live in this body as well as I can. God has been in it all -- Guiding through it all... and the Lessons I've learned in dealing with it...!!! As I said, I'm grateful.

I started with a Ph.D. in nutrition 30 yr. ago and he guided me through lots of stuff before retiring a few years ago. For him I am VERY grateful. My problem may have begun with a (presumably broad spectrum) antibiotic I was given when I was 13 months old. I don't ever remember not having fatigue and allergy problems. Didn't really take a lot of antibiotics over the years. Did take birth control pills 30 yr. ago.

Read The Yeast Connection and took nystatin 25 yr. ago. Had previously discovered that I felt better on the Atkins Diet. I've never felt WORSE than when I tried to go vegetarian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I eat eggs or homemade sausage for breakfast with a piece of fruit. Will often put the egg on a steamed WHOLE bunch of chopped collards (I steam them fresh). Think they're great with a fresh-crushed clove of garlic on it and a T. or 2 of olive oil.

I make my own sausage with herbs from my herb garden because all sorts of molds bother me -- and that means dried herbs... and even Whole Foods adds sugar to their sausage!!

I don't eat grapes, potatoes, or other high carb foods. For lunch I eat 5 oz. of meat: Try to eat sardines at least twice a week since they (and collards) are so high in calcium. They're really cheap, too. Might do tuna once a week (concern for the mercury)... and another piece of fruit.

For dinner, more meat. I make low-carb meat loaf, low carb stuffed peppers, etc., and big helpings of 2 low-carb steamed vegetables with healthy oil on them. I started with The Yeast Connection when it first came out. Also bought the tapes of a medical conference 15 yr. or more ago and listened to them with Merck Manual in one hand and unabridged dictionary in the other. Leo Galland, M.D. was one of the presenters and I found some more recent research onine recently through pecahbread.com. Now, THAT's the most helpful site I've yet found!! I haven't read much in the past 10 yr.

Maybe it was curezone.com that I tried maybe a month ago and found it not to be very helpful. the folks I experienced there (one man, in particular) were adament that everybody needs to eat like they do. They were telling me that I needed to do a Dr. Somebody's liver cleanse and when I asked how that made sense from a physiological standpoint all I got was what I believe to be ignorance. Told my very knowledgable gastroenterologist about it and he said, "You can find all sorts of stupidity on the Internet!"

Am very grateful for this site and the SCD site. They weren't easily findable maybe a year ago when I last looked for current research. Searching on google.com is how I got here. I'd love to see your treat recipe. On THIS site? Thanks SO much!!! We need all the creativity we can get!!!

Thanks for telling me about wholeapproach.com. I looked at their recipes and there's no way I could eat that stuff. Too high carb. I'd love to think that as some point I might be able to. There's an SCD support group here. I visited it last month. Plan to go again -- though they don't have to eat nearly as strict a diet as I do. Maybe it won't always be thus.

Thanks so MUCH for all you said!! Sounds like you're on the right track with your little girl. If you can avoid the developmental problems my kidz had as a result, I believe, of yeast, more power to you!!! The things I had to do to get them through it... well, it was a lot of work.
Blessings back atcha,
Artful

Artful, yes what whole approach.com eats are way out of my league. I need to stick to meats, veg, eggs, almond flour goodies, stevia, coconut oil and some nuts. Water, tea and a bit of coffee are all my main staples. I have found that with my fibromyalgia that things like chili powders and to much hot spicy things upset my balance in a few ways that are not good. BUT I did get a few recipes from them that I can do subsitutes or work with them to help me stay low carb

Default Jan1

I feel really bad for you, Jan1 - but I can certainly sympathize with what it is you are going through. Are you able to eat these days?

From what I understand - if you take the ThreeLac (I have a can of it right here) you really don't HAVE to adhere to a strict diet, depriving yourself of goods fruits in order to kill the yeast that is causing the overgrowth.

I have a book called The Candida Yeast Answer revision published 2001. I think parts of it may be outdated - only because there are so many new things coming out on the market to assist with the Yeast Overgrowth problem. E.g. Coconut Oil, Total Immune Booster, etc. I can't say though, because I'm very weak from fighting this thing myself for the past 7 years. It wears you down a lot and I know for me, just having a cup of tea in the a.m. with some honey in it (oops - is that a bad word here?) really gave me a boost. Sometimes depriving our bodies of too much isn't good either - it has to be in moderation for some of us. I had been on a low (no) carb diet for many years with horrid constipation problems (this was back in the early 70s) then I found out that I could very easily maintain and even lose weight with an intake of 50 - 100 carbo-cals per day (that's what we called them back then.) You have to do what is good/right for your body. I hope you are feeling much better now. I am about to embark on the ThreeLac - the Coconut Oil isn't helping my Candidiasis at all - well maybe it is, but it's making me very sick in the process and dizzy too.

Default Thanks To ALL who Replied!

Ladies,

Thank you so much for your encouragement! Things are moving along. My skin still goes through real bad times which make it almost unbareable. I have been using extra virgin Coconut Oil which I really like. My father is also using it now. I have been taking probiotics along with black walnut hull and wormwood with cloves. I have also added Colostrum to the list That seems to help. I am currently practicing Yoga which I love.

I can't seem to stick to any strickt diet because of money constraints and the battles with my husband as to what we eat is also getting on my nerves. Sometimes I feel like I should just take my kids and run away to some other planet away from sugar! School is even worse. You wouldn't believe how much garbage the kids eat in school. I had to curb that as well.

Ladies, I bought the book Complete Candida Yeast Guidebook Revised 2nd Edition. It is loaded with recipes too. I just keep praying and having faith. It is showing some improvement because when I trail off the diet, I don't go overboard for example... If I have some sugar, it will be natural and in the form of a green apple. It doesn't seem to bother me too much. Things of that nature. Tonight I made a giant pot of Chicken Soup with all the good stuff in it. That will last us a while in the freezer. Next pay day I am going to try to make my own pasta and an indian flat bread with a flour that is recommended in the book.

BTW, does anyone take any good daily vitamins that have no yeast, sugar, gluten etc? In this book they say to stay away from vitamins but I don't know, I feel like I need them. It also says to drink mineral water and I have been boiling my tap water.

As far as my children, they have all had yeast infections when they were babies, skin rashes etc. My first born suffered with middle ear infections so badly that he had tubes put in twice. My second had bad colic and sensitivity to meds and foods. My third, well she is the one with the Kidney trouble. I am enjoying eating healthier now because I know it is the best way but I still must find some options for my chocolate cravings of which I noticed a recipe one of you had made with Coconut Oil. I need to try that. Oh and on the Tea tip... I drank Peppermint tea and it helped me digest AND releave my constipation! Boy, was I happy for that! This book states that Taheebo or Pau d'arco root helps to KILL Candida and they say that it is strong. They recommend that you take it as directed by a health specialist. They supposedly sell Taheebo in tea bags. The book states that is the only tea that could be taken in a tea bag no more than once a day, Go figure.

Before I go, does anyone have a recipe for a "healthy" icecream that I can fake out my kids with? I want to try to put the pro-biotics in it so they won't know. I am having a hard time getting it down them. I tried freezing yogurt made with Stevia but it didn't work. Do you think I can add food coloring to fake 'em out?
I appreciate all your help and will keep coming back here. If anyone would like any of the recipes from this book, just let me know! There are over 200 of them.

I wish I could remember what yall wrote or at least reply to you one at a time so that I could answer questions etc. I am new here and I am unsure of how to reply to a single post. Oh and Mrs.Posey, Please let me know how you feel with the Threelac. Best wishes to you. I will be praying for all of you.

Talk to you soon and may you all be well!

Blessings,

Jan
