Angry Atkins Advantage Chocolate Shakes is Gross

Oh my God I just brought this mix at considerable expense from the local health food and sat down after dinner - still feeling a little empty and thought well I'm craving chocolate so why don't I try out the shake mix.

Blah Yuk Gross I have never tasted anything quite so repulsive.

Anyone else had the same experience?

Anyone else got some ideas how I can use this mix in some other more tasty ways?

HELP

I used to make a 'milkshake' using the chocolate shake powder, instant coffee, flavored divinci syrup, splash of heavy cream, water and some ice cubes blended in a blender. It wasn't nearly as bad doctored up.

The powdered shakes tast like crap. Period. You have to buy the ones already made in the cans. I have NO idea WHY they are so different tasting.

BUT, what you can try is using 1/2 cup or a whole cup of Low Carb chocolate milk and mixing it in that.....maybe even tossing in a half a packet os splenda too.

Or just go get your money back!! LOL!!

I am not a big fan of the powdered mix, either. I buy the cans when I buy them.

I have yet to try any of the powder shake mix stuff. Overall I find the Atkins brand items to be less enjoyable than other brands (eg: the breakfast bars are less flavorful than cardboard).

However, the pre-mixed shakes (in cans) are something completely different. The Chocolate Delight flavor is quite good. I tried the Vanilla, Chocolate Royale and Strawberry and did not care for them. You have to make sure to shake the cans very vigorously. The first strawberry one I had was not completely mixed; I had sludge in the bottom and that ruined it for me.

I have tried some other brands and I have not cared for them.

Also, Costco now carries the Atkins shakes; 24 pack for $30.

The new "spoon-stirrable" ones are the WORST. If you blend the regular stuff with a bit of ice in the water and a dash of cream and a little extra sweetener, it's more milkshake and less "goo"...

I used to use, and enjoy the Carb Solutions vanilla shake powder. As was mentioned by others, ice makes a big difference, and mixing it in the blender is essential. The reason I bought vanilla was that I could add a scoop of unsweetened cocoa to it and make a chocolate shake, too.

Vanilla and a dash of nutmeg makes a good eggnogg flavor.

If you put it in the blender with ice and a little bit of heavy whipping cream it is GREAT, even better than the cans!
