Thumbs down Atkins Advantage Chocolate Shake Mix

Oh my God - this stuff is disusting - I bought this today - so that I could feed my chocolate craving at night (very expensive too) made some up and I nearly puked - even tried holding nose and downing it but that didn't work - the aftertaste is even worse than ketosis breath.

blah blah yuk yuk yuk

Is there anything that I can use the shake mix to make that doesn't taste so bad?

Any ideas let me know.

Fiona

I personally haven't tried the mixes, I prefer the ready-made canned shakes. (which I love BTW)

Maybe try whipping it in a blender with ice and a Tbs of natural PB? Or with a few strawberries if you are past induction. Or maybe experiment with adding different flavored SF Davinci syrups? HTH!

If you're just trying to satisfy your chocolate craving and nothing else, have you tried the Hood Carb Countdown chocolate milk? It's wonderful!! It satisfies my chocolate cravings, and that's a pretty big craving to satisfy!! I have never found a protien shake mix that I could stand, and, while the ready to drink shakes are good, they also tend to be pricey. The Hood chocolate milk is about $3.29 for a half gallon, but it lasts me several days, so it's worth it to me.

I used 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 vanilla shake mix and thought it tasted more like chocolate milk that way. The straight choc. shake mix is TOO chocolate and too thick.

Make cookies out of it!! I can't remember the recipe off the top of my head, but I definitely found it on this website. Basically, shake mix + butter + eggs + ... = cookies more tolerable than the mix. I can't stand it as mix either.

Can you drink the Advantage Shake drinks when your in Induction ? I love the chocolate one but I've just started Induction again and I don't want to mess up this time.

I got rid of my Atkins shake mix by mixing it half and half with Keto shake mix. I guess the resulting mixture had mixed results, but it was better than the Atkins crap alone.

Atkins shakes are NOT very good quality shakes, IMHO. And I'd avoid shakes in general for induction in particular - the small molecules of whey can glycolyze very easily and stimulate an insulin response.

Even now, I don't use them for meal replacement - I only use them as an exercise supplement.
