Unhappy Craving Cake!

I have been going through this phase lately where all I can think about it cake. Chocolate, vanilla, marble..it doesnt matter! What is with me? I am not usually a sweet tooth person. I feel very weak by my cravings lately! This is week 5 for me. Will this go away?

What might help is imagining the cake of your choice...with motor oil poured over it like a bundt drizzle.

Diverts your mind rather quickly.

I totally know what you mean. When I'm on this "diet" I don't miss bread or anything but the sweets.--WATCH OUT!! And I was never a sweet-tooth person before but, holy cow, I crave anything sweet. It's strange. It is BAD at the beginning for me but get's better altho it never really goes away. So if it's REALLY bad I'll chew on a stick of sugar-free gum (sweetened with Splenda). I try my best to stay away from Splenda tho too.........I think it may stall me down the road and really, it just triggers further cravings for me.

Good Luck!

I did have about 1/4 cup of low carb ice cream the other night. Other than that nothing.

Cravings just happen! If you feel like you can't hold on, make yourself a low carb cake. I'm sure there's recipes in the recipe forums.

I think a low carb alternative is a great idea...also you might want to try a chromium supplement. Dr. Atkins mentioned that high carb eating can deplete the body of chromium.

On page 305 of my DANDR, he recommends 300mcg of chromium polynicotinate. Many people on the forum say this supplement helped them.

there's a pretty good 3-minute cake in the recipes section, too - either chocolate or devil's food. you make it in the microwave. it's a tad dry, but yummy with some whipped cream.

i also find a little spoonful of peanut butter can help when i want sweets but don't want any LC sweets.

Have you tried making cakes using hazelnut meal instead of those other low carb mixes? I find that hazelnut meal (you can get it in your supermarket) makes much better cakes than almond meal. It has 4g carbs per 100g. Don't use splenda, it's high in carbs. If you can't get any unadulterated sucralose, then read the latest expert opinion about saccharin and use it with confidence. The original adverse research findings were poorly designed and misinterpreted. Put heaps of cinnamom and allspice in. Cinnamon is a great antioxidant and beneficial for blood sugar control. Have it with heaps of vanilla flavoured, sucralose (or saccharin) sweetened whipped cream. Oh and don't use stevia. Apart from it's aftertaste it directly stimulates the islet cells of the pancreas to produce insulin, which will drive your blood sugar even lower and exacerbate cravings. Even two years down the track I still occasionally crave a slice of cake. It's got about 0.5 g carbs per large slice.
Glutamime is usually recommended to control cravings also.

Try this cake recipe. It's simple and really tasty.

I grind my own almond flour using slivered almonds in the food processor. Much cheaper than spending $8 on a small bag!

one thing that works for me is i simply answer these questions:

Do I want to eat this garbage? or do I want to lose weight?

It all comes down to what u want more, if u dont want to have your weight under control, then go eat the cake, otherwise just dont eat it.

I want this weight loss far greater than any food u can stcik in front of my face, I'm not about to muck up all this hard work for a piece of crap (cake).

ARE U????
