Talking Hi! This looks like a great community!

I've been dieting for a year on the Vole diet out here in Palo Alto. It works great (300lbs to 175lbs in a year) but just gets really boring. I can fit into the burrow but got to keep on track to keep from furballing. I think Lee must have been some kind of monk to keep at it that way. I had a go with some pickled grapes yesterday; bloody awful things.

Do any of you all on Atkins know of any other types of sugar-free jello or Kool-Aid than than the few flavors they have in the store? And what about other 0 calorie 0 carb candy like those Aquamints? We only have the melon flavor here. Sometimes California is like the edge of the world. I heard Walmart has 5 calorie 0 card cups of sugar-free jello, but if so, we don't get that out here. Also heard a rumor about no-sugar chocolate flavored Kool-Aid (if only dreams could be true! )

The new Atkins products (daVinci syrup, etc.) make the Vole much more doable (as long as you watch the calories ... some of those Adkins LC bars have more calories than a real candy bar!). I always check the low-carb section in the store for new products to keep the inner vole happy; it's getting better and better. I wish the bigheads at the food companies would come out with real LCarb, low calorie peanut butter though ...

Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of this group here. Any other volers about on the board? We need a site of our own; if I had time, talent or money I might set one up, but I'm lacking in all three! Also enjoying life a bit too much not being fat to sit around overly much. Anyway, I'm off to do my pickled lemons (hateful things, but effective ) and then out to the 600 before the couch sucks me in ... Chow!

Welcome!

I have never heard of the "vole" diet so I cannot comment on that but glad you have joined us! I think I will google it and find out what it is. I have been really happy with Atkins but I like to know what is out there.

Default Thanks for the kind welcome!

Thanks for the kind welcome! If you find anything in google on voling, let me know. I don't think the vole diet has gotten out beyond xeroxes and e-mails between folks yet. It uses some of the Atkins ideas but has some wierd twists to it, like adding cans of washed sauerkraut to salad and things like that. It definitely works, all of us out here who've tried it have lost pounds like mad. I used to be a 300 pound load but have to down to 175. And we're all a bunch of typical guys without any health consciousness at all. All the info, charts and other stuff on the diet my buddy passed me is at the office somewhere, but it basically seems to be a kind of Atkins theme diet with much much more calorie consciousness. We also spend a lot of time in Asian supermarkets looking for stuff like pickled eggfruits (that's not a mistake, I really mean eggfruits, not eggplants ... ).

Default This IS a great community

Hope you find as much information, encouragement, and support here as I have. It IS a great community!

Having never heard of the vole diet I had to google it myself. However the only thing I've learned so far about the "vole diet" is that the vole (a rodent similar to the mole) has a diet that consists of green vegetation and tubers.

Anyway, welcome. And many congrats on your successful weightloss!

Default Hi, Minairia

You're right, people on this group are real nice supportive. Sorry, I can't help you : I know nothing about the vole diet. I'm on Atkins, and the only way I've found to overcome my craving for sweeties is : 1. drink lots of diet Pepsi, 2. make my own low-carb chocolate cream from unsweetened cocoa powder, aspartam, whipping cream and a bit of low carb peanut butter. It's yummy , has lots of calories in it (calories are not to be counted in Atkins), but very few carbs!
If this recipe agrees with your diet, just try it and let me kniw hiw you like the taste!
Best wishes of success to you!
Mumu
