Talking bad habits hard to break?

Does anybody besides me catch themselves breaking old bad habits?
It was kind of funny. When my DH & I started this WOE, he went to an auction and as always at the auctions they had a table of coffee and donuts for the buyers. So he grabbed his cup of coffee and glazed donut and started talking to a bunch of people. As soon as he raised it to his mouth he realized what he was doing. Well, he said he was kind of embarrassed and didn't want to throw it away in front of everyone so he held on to it for a while and when no one was around he got rid of it. Anyway, I was cutting the last piece of birthday cake for my boys and some yummy chocolate frosting got on my finger. So what do I naturally do?? I raised it to my mouth to lick my finger. I realized what I was doing. There is that split second that happens when you think to yourself....It's only a little. No big deal!

I washed my finger off and it felt good to be in control..

My biggest "bad" habit that I still have a tough time with is eating when NOT hungry...just eating...like while watching TV or when I am "bored". Very tough habit to break.

l_siobhan ...

Sounds to me like you are doing GREAT with breaking old habits. The first step is awareness and you've got that going for you!! Amazing, isn't it, how much we are creatures of habit. The good news though is that our NEW habits will stick as well as the old have so we CAN change our ways! Time and commitment is all that it takes! Congrats on your success so far and may it continue!

I did something similar.... We have new training classes come into work on maybe 2 Monday a month...

They order donuts and orange juice...

I walked by was like ummm orange juice... started pouring myself a glass... then was like, " what am I thinking??" walked over and got a glass of water instead

Weird how it is unconscience to just grab something without thinking...
