Default atkins muffins cause me cravings?

I made up some Atkins mini muffins (about a third of the size of a regular ie one batch made 36 muffins!) and placed one blueberry in each one ! I froze them and have been using them as snacks etc just eating one here and there - at I calculate a littel under 1 carb per muffin.

This morning for the first time i did not have my egg and cheese breakfast as my husband ate all the egss(GRR!!!) so I had 3 mini muffins! Now i have that rumbly feeling in my tumly (apologies to Pooh for stealing his line) that i used to get after eating a carb loaded breakfast!

Anyway i am not going to have them for breakfast again - but was just wondering if anyon else has experinced this -is it because of what I ate or because of not eating the eggs whic really do fill you up and not make you hungry later?

Just wondering if you have any thoughts on this?

Claire

Good question. You may have a reaction to the muffins, but more likely you just didn't eat enough and you were still hungry. One muffin (or three of your cute-sounding mini-muffins) is only, what, 70 calories? Even with some butter, that is not enough food.

Next time you're in a pinch, might want to team up your muffin with some breakfast meat, like bacon or sausage. That usually fills me up okay.

BTW, are these the new mix of blueberry muffins that are 8g carbs a muffin? They used to be 3g. How evil. Do they taste better than the old mix? If you tried it, I'm curious if the transition made any difference. The Banana Nut and Lemon Poppy are still very low carb (2-3g) so I refuse to buy the blueberry anymore.

I tend to think that even though it is low carb, any of the baked goods could call the carb demons back.

For me personally, I like to just stay away.

Actally it wasnt a premixed muffin mix - it was muffins made up from atkins bake mix - and added some flax meal to for fibre and the blueberries.

But you are right about it not being a lot of calories - i got so hung up in caounting carbs i forgot to give my breakfact a is that enough to eat check!

However I have almost finished the bake mix so yesterday I bought some regular Atkins muffin mixes. The blueberry one had 2 or 3 grams in each one so I guess it was the old one. I am trying to stick below 25 grams a day so to eat 8 grams in one muffin would be huge for me - it would take away too many of my vegetables!

Now if I am going to have something with 8 carbs and not much roughage then I would have cold glass of non light beer or a large glass of wine or even some atkins ice cream for 6 carbs!

I agree that 8g carbs is too much for one stinkin' muffin. Stupid Atkins Nutritionals.

Shelley's right, these things may cause cravings, confusion, PSYCHOSIS... but muffins don't do that for me. To each his own trigger, I go down in flames with nuts and dairy overloads.

Anyway, Claire, you'll just have to experiment with the muffin fun. I do fine with them, but usually like to team them up with more fat and protein.
