Default Trying to get back on track

I'm back after taking a two week break. Had gall bladder surgery and was told to get on a low fat diet. I tried weight watchers counting points for about four days but the old carb cravings came back with a vengence and I am getting tired of fighting the temptations. I would like to adopt a lower fat version of Atkins, maybe somewhat like south beach or sugar busters. I would like to be able to eat some whole wheat bread, oatmeal and the like. My question is, do I need to do an induction period first to detox from all the carbs I have been eating? I know that would be a challenge for me. Has anyone been in this situation before? I loved how it felt to be free of cravings while doing Atkin induction.
I am down to 124, I did lose a couple of pounds doing WW, but was hungry alot. I only have about 5 pounds to lose. Would love suggestions from anyone. Thanks!

Maybe you should email the Atkins center about this? Or if someone who is on CAD or Sugarbusters can tell us if they also got rid of their carb cravings without the strict induction.

I am sorry you had to go through this!

Default Atkins and Gall Bladder surgery

Hi Youngdor,

I had gall bladder surgery about 2 years ago. I had problems with fatty foods at first, they would run straight through me within 20 minutes and eating out at a restaurant was torture, because I had to stay near the bathroom for at least 20 minutes.

Now I am back on the Atkins diet, and I must say, I have less problems with eating than ever since my surgery. Even though I drink my morning coffee with heavy cream, and add heavy cream to my evening jello treat, I have only noticed that opposite to previous Atkins experiences, where I was terribly stopped up, I now have no problems with digestion. No more emergency dives to the restroom 20 minutes after I eat.

I am going to see my doctor sometime this week for an initial check up, and I will discuss this with him. But since he is a reluctant supporter of low carbing, I am sure he will just take in that information with interest.
