Smile Hi from Australia

Hi Everyone, My name is Nadia. I am starting a low carb diet for the first time. In Australia there is a female body sculpting champ that wrote a few books on good fats high protien and low carbs. I read them a few years ago and was curious but did nothing about it. I have recently been feeling really flat so I went to my naturpath for some advice and he put me on a low carb diet. I started on Monday and haven't slipped up yet. I'm not allowed any alcohol or artificial sweetners though which is tough. Friday night and beer are a happy couple.

I have packed on about 25 kg's since I left school 7 years ago. I'm sorry I don't know pounds very well. I am keen to get them off and feel fit, healthy and sexy again.

I'm interested to hear from anyone so please write.

Bye Nadia

Hello Nadia!

I just started the Atkins diet three weeks ago. It is okay so far. I've lost about 7 pounds. The toughest thing about this diet was giving up beer and desserts. But my energy level is better and I'm not as hungry as I use to be. I think the first week is the toughest but after that, it just gets easier.

Good Luck!

Hi

I'm glad to get a message back so quickly. I think I am going to find this new way of eating much easier than I expected. I have been doing it now for five days and hae been going well. I am showing that I am burning fat on my keto sticks. I too feel much less hungry. The hardest bit is walking into the shops (supermarket) and smelling all of the chocoloate cookies. But so far so good.

speak to you soon

If you are really craving cookies, I found a low-carb chocolate cookie that is delicious! Of course, you shouldn't eat them if you are in the first couple of weeks of LC. I found them in Ohio so I'm not sure if you can get them in Australia.

Default cookies

Hi again

Yes I do at times, not a huge craving like before but I find especially after dinner I feel like something a bit sweet. I have been having berries and cream with a little bit of low joule and carb choc topping on top. This is far from bad and definetly not allowed in any other diet I've tried. The problem with living in Australia is that you can't get the low carb cookie products. In Atkins book he says to use his ready made baking mix for all of that sort of stuff and I can't get it here. I'll keep looking around for recipies though. I need a recipie that you use with normal, can buy at the store products. I've seen some recipies that use soy flour and the like but still seem to be quite high in carbs.

It is only week two for me so I have a long road ahead to discover this stuff. I think I am one of those fortunate people who doesn't seem to have too much resistance to insulin. Yesterday I had two serves of berries and some tomato and my keto sticks showed purple, so I must be doing something right.

Thanks for your response.

Nadia

Hi Nadia, welcome!

Have you had a look at our Australia/New Zealand forum yet? Among other things, there is a "recipe" for home-made bake mix there.

And have you looked at the recipe forums here? There are many recipes for muffins, biscuits and cheesecake that don't require the bakemix.

I can recommend these almond biccies and these choc coconut muffins from personal experience.

Cheers, matey.
