Yes...the one on the corner of Rt 7 and Haycock Rd in Falls Plaza, Falls Church. I would think if this Giant has it, they all would, especially the larger stores like the one in McLean.

I absolutely can not stand milk! I have never liked it, not even as a kid. However, when I lived in the Virgin Islands, I use to like the milk there. The reason? Because they mixed powered milk with regular milk and to me, it just tasted better and didn't have that funky milk smell. Because of this... I LOVE THE HOOD CARB COUNTDOWN MILK! I always worry about getting enough calcium since I am not crazy about many dairy products (the smell).

Anyway, I know I am going to enjoy smoothies, low carb milkshakes, coffee drinks, Chai and Low carb cereal with this stuff. It absolutely ROCKS!

Default Okay....dumb question of the week x2

Okay....probably a dumb question, okay, several dumb questions, but

1) What is this stuff made out of?
2) Does it have lactose in it, or is it lactose free?
3) Why does the Chocolate show 3 net carbs on the front, but when you
look at the label and subtract fiber it ought to be 2, right?

Heh....I must be having a really sleep deprived day...even worse than I thought. I'm not even new around here!

I'll try and help:

1. As I recall its ingredients include Water, Nonfat Milk, Cream, Buttermilk, and some various gums (thickeners) and other food additives.

2. It's probably not lactose free, but at only 2g of sugar (milk usually has 12-14g) it will have a lot less lactose than milk. I know different people have different levels of sensitivity, but I have mild lactose intolerance and can handle this and the LC ice creams no problem.

3. Two possibiities:

a) they just didn't subtract the fiber and put "2g" on the front...(they might only have the "3g" artwork from Atkins for printing the cartons)

b) the 1g of fiber is a misprint...this is always a possibility...you'd be apalled at how often manufacturers misprint their nutritional info (Keebler has a package of cookies that contains 12 cookies and the nutritional info says 1 cookie/serving and 16 servings per package...its been wrong for at least 8 years)

Hope that helps!

Brian

I've found the Hood LC milk products at Food World in central Alabama. I don't try many commercial LC products, but this was worth the try.

We've actually had non-LC friends try this and love it. I first saw an ad for it in the Atkins catalog and noticed it at our local Tom Thumb (a Safeway food store) shortly thereafter. We both LOVE this stuff. We've bought the chocolate and the 2%. It's so much easier than mixing the powdered Keto milk and it's also closer to regular milk than the Keto.

I took the time to send HP Hood a little thank you letter for such a wonderful product.

I found this at Vons on the west coast(safeway).

Some of the stores have different selections though. One would have the chocolate and nonfat, and the other nonfat and lowfat, etc.

It's pretty good though I must say, at least compared to so much water and a beer every now and then.

Default Hood dairy beverages

My local Albertsons grocery store, in the Denver area, also carries the Hood dairy beverages. They are in the dairy section, near the regular milk and cream, in half-gallon cartons. I agree with the other posters that the chocolate is extremely yummy! The white 2% beverage tastes rich, almost too rich, as if it had cream in it, although it says reduced fat (and low carb of course!). The white 2% beverage is good, but not as great as the chocolate.

At Walmart SuperCenter, I found the Hood dairy beverages near the regular milk. They must be kept refrigerated.

I bought LeCarb brand low carb milk from the local Akins health food store. I absolutely love it...better than 'real' milk. The following week I found Hood' s "Carb Countdown" milk at Walmart selling for two dollars less than I had paid for the LeCarb milk. I took it home--very pleased with my find. However, my joy was short lived...the Hood stuff seems to have an unpleasant chalky taste/texture. I ended up pouring it out. Just my opinion but the LeCarb brand is WAY better. If you haven't tried the LeCarb milk you're missing out...again, just my opinion. Anyone else have experiences with both products?
