Maybe I am a lucky one then. I have been vlc/zc for just over a week now. I have had days where I am tired, but not extrordinarily so. I have some constipation issues (that could be related to low thyroid instead of ZC), but other than that I have not felt any horrible side-effects. *crossing fingers* that those things aren't lurking in my near future.

I'm still having diarrhea, gas and stomach cramps today. Weight is steady from yesterday at 137. Curiously, my lips are not as dry as they were earlier despite today being the coldest day of the season - 31 degrees. I'm going to put that down to the salmon roe I got yesterday. I made a 'mayonnaise' with it last night using lemon juice and turkey fat. It tastes like gravy! I didn't expect to like it that much but it's actually kind of delicious.

Dinner last night:

Grilled NY strip
Sauce made with beef stock and lard
Salmon roe with a small squeeze of lemon
Hard boiled egg yolks
Caviar gravy

So how long should I expect this pain to go on? Am I going to adjust or do I need to give my stomach some more acid?

I have struggled with diarrhea since I started. I never really have cramps except maybe right before I have to go. I have been nearly gas free since giving up carbs. The only thing that has improved in 3 months is that the frequency of the squirts is down. Now its maybe only once instead of 10 times. Is it the fat?

It could be. I think it's possible to get it both from fats and from proteins. Also from sensitivities - it could be amines in the bacon for me, for example.

What's odd for me is that even though my movement was partly liquid this morning, I had only one. I had only one yesterday too. But the gas and cramps last all day.

Sorry if this is all TMI.

Thanks. With zero carb, it really is a trust issue. Your body will do all sorts of weird things, especially at first, so you have to just eat meat and relax. The good stuff will happen.

I'm feeling better today - no BMs at all, hard or soft, and the gas is back to its usual level, no pain. I was tempted to have some kimchi yesterday but I knew if I did, I'd never find out whether I was feeling bad because I wasn't eating it. So I didn't have any, and I recovered anyway.

I also had some bits from the chicken stock I was making last night, and often that stuff will also give me the runs. But it didn't seem to do any harm, and my weight is down another pound to 136!

I'll have some pemmican again in a few days and we'll see if that was the problem...

Broke out with some monster cold sores this morning. Funny how when hubby gets them, they're teeny tiny baby spots on his mouth. Me? I wake up with a lip that would put Angelina Jolie's to shame.

I hate cold sores! I'm lucky, though, in that I get one maybe once a year. The key for me is to keep it dry. I've tried all the balms and stuff, but keeping it moist seems to make it last longer and look uglier.

I was once given a small sample of a medication called Tazorac, it's a gel for skin disorders, from the dermatologist. I put just a dab of that on the cold sore a couple times a day, and it dries it out completely. If I do this, it's usually gone in less than a week, whereas if I keep it moist it takes 2 weeks or more to heal.

I've been looking for easy remedies online. I've seen everything from ear wax to nail polish remover! lol. Right now I'm just putting rubbing alcohol on it every little bit in an effort to dry it out. Over the counter cold sore remedies just seem to make it angry. lol.

I use a Compeed cold sore patch. I works perfectly. Wish I'd discovered them sooner.

Abreva is used mainly for the beginning stages of a cold sore, and only to keep it from infecting the other cells around it. It also has moisturizing properties, which is sort of the opposite of what I want to do. And it's $20. lol.

hope your cold sore is better today, but that line just cracked me up!

I don't get cold sores that often, but when i do they're humongous too.

You're right, Abreva helps in the beginning and i find IF i use it when the cold sore is just starting (mine gets very itchy), i can pretty much stop it in it's tracks.
