I could never "go" until I started Atkins and started eating lots of veggies. Now I am regular.

Actually don't bother... im not even going to waste my time, because you have obviously made up your minds and have no intention of listening to anything anyone else says. You ignore the overwhelming evidence and believe what you want to. This whole discussion is just really silly and pointless.

Great attitude for someone who wants to go into medicine. If you get this frustrated talking to a bunch of Internet yahoos, just wait until you start seeing patients.

On second thought, you'd probably make a great (typical) doctor, given what we know about how the medical profession in general views their patients.

Cheers.

This book looks very interesting. I'm gonna see if they have it in stock at B&N tomorrow.

Between 0-10g fibre a day, and no problems

Gotta find what works with your bod!

Maybe YOU can - I can't! I gained a ton of weight when I was a vegetarian for that reason. I can overeat pasta like you wouldn't believe - I never feel full on it. I'd go crazy with cravings for it. Controlling my eating was a constant battle. Plus, it made me bloat horribly and feel extremely congested. My bod does NOT like pasta, and gets nice n' fat on it! Again, we're all different.

I do like and eat veg - I've always preferred root veggies, of course! *sigh* But for me veg is a side dish, and I don't worry about how much/little I consume. I do love a huge mixed green and herb salad though...mmmmmmm.

Internet Yahoos!! Man that's funny!

No offense meant to all of the other yahoos, but I'm not sure why people get so worked up in these discussions. Try as you may, you're just never going to find the perfect diet for everyone. You can argue all you want, but it's not going to happen.

Thanks for the laugh HairOnFire!!

I think the last time I ate pasta was in 2004 sometime...

And I'm STILL not losing weight. I think it might uh...um...I think it might actually have something to do with calories.

Frankly, I find this entire thread ridiculous. The title says it all -- "NO DISCUSSION."

So why post it if you don't want and won't allow discussion?

You chide people "because you have obviously made up your minds and have no intention of listening to anything anyone else says."

"Hello, Pot? This is Kettle calling."

Keep in mind the evidence for vegetables being so good for you is in the context of the high-carb, highly processed, badly imbalanced Standard American Diet. If you replace carby processed food with fresh low-carb veggies and fruit, of course there will be improvement. But is there any evidence at all that plant foods add any real nutritional value to a meat/egg based natural whole foods diet?

Yes, already explained above

There are nutrients that are benificial to human health and are only found in plant foods.

No, that doesn't explain it. Nutrients are only valuable if they are needed. In excess of what is needed, they are wasted, or can even become anti-nutrients, causing absorption problems or imbalances that require greater amounts of other nutrients to compensate. There is no mention of the value of these nutrients in the context of a low-carb, minimally processed diet. If they aren't needed because the diet supplies - or more to the point, doesn't create a need for them - then how are they of any benefit? The above link does not explain it.

Soooo...what was the point of the pasta/weight loss comment? Maybe I've had too much sun today, but I'm confused.

On second thought, don't answer...cuz who cares! It's a veggie-no-discussion thread. Where did the OP go, BTW?

The OP has not posted for about 18 months. In fact, the whole thread was lying fallow for around 18 months before someone felt the need to revive it.

Not sure why...
