Wink Worst thing you use to eat?

I was watching my son eating pasta the other day. Then I remember, when ever we had spaghetti (usually once or twice a week, a nice cheap meal) I always made a spaghetti sandwich out of it. Putting mounds of spaghetti on a piece of white bread, with extra cheese on to and then folding it up like a taco and eating.

So what was your worst high carb eating blunder?

I don't think there was any single food or combination I used to eat that was so awful, more like HOW MUCH I would consume. One time 2 years ago, my 2 sisters came to visit me at college and we basically spent the entire weekend planning what to eat! We ordered a TON of cheese fries and pizza the first night, then the next day when I was in class, they went for an early lunch, then met up with me for a second lunch! I think we each ate 2 pints of ice cream over the weekend. Luckily for them, they are not overweight like me. I don't really feel guilty for eating so much because I wasn't trying to diet at the time, but I still cringe to think of how many calories and carbs I ate! I was definetly addicted!

Drinking soda as if it were water. I consumed about 3 liters of Pepsi a day. And stuffing myself on rolls before dinner whenever out at a restaurant.

I used to love anything with tons of cinnamon and sugar on it, including rice.

There isn't one thing for me. I used to drink icy tea by the gallon... I still miss it. Other than that, candy bars, homeade cakes, or prepackaged rice and noodles and sauce.

Chinese food was probably the worst thing I ever ate. I didn't care for the more traditional "bad" stuff like chocolate, ice cream, chips, and cookies.

Back when I weighed 170 lbs (early to mid 90's) and my kids were younger they always needed a "bedtime snack" so they would sleep through the night. They had something healthy (I was one of "those" moms - really strict about what my kids ate and did). But their dad and I would have our own snack after the kids were all asleep. I would typically have a huge (mixing bowl) of popcorn or a huge dish of ice cream. If not either of those, it would be something else horrible. This was consumed while watching the evening news. Of course, I didn't exercise either.

I think now about the bad eating habits I had then and glad I got out of that vicious cycle.

I have no idea whether my kids' dad still eats that way - but he is developing a gut and his wife is about the shape I was back then.

My kids, however, are all rail-thin and have great eating habits, and I believe my strictness when they were little has paid off. Two are in college (32 ACT aerospace engineering major at Ga Tech and 33 ACT music education major at UNA) and the youngest is a jr in high school (took the ACT in 5th grade and got an 18, will take it again this year with the goal of beating his siblings).

I'd butter toast and then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top. I'd use the knife to mix it around. God, that tasted good.

Pancakes with butter and maple syrup. Starch, fat, sugar and a week's worth of carbs all in one breakfast!

Gawd, I used to sit down and eat a whole box of sugar cereal at one sitting...

ps. Mary, I used to do the SAME thing with pasta! (except we always put butter/parmesan/garlic on the white bread and baked it for a few minutes until it was soft, and then piled everything on it.)
