The mission: Deep ketogenic eating everyday
The rules: Eat less than 20 net carbs per day and less than 15 net carbs at any one meal.
Other parameters: I will give myself up to 5 passes/exceptions throughout the 90 day period, but they cannot be used on consecutive days. These are not free-for-all days, but an allowance to take into account that perfection is not required.

I would like to practice from the beginning of 2018 until March 31st one old and one new habit. I will mostly report on observations on Eating before noon. Sounds like fun practice.

1) Daily meditation session on the cushion
2) Eating before noon.

Observation:

1 and second of Jan I did neither of these, oh well. Did a short meditation yesterday evening and fasted so that part was easy, eating before noon that is

Observation:

relaxing time on cushion yesterday and no food so I hit both marks. Saturday will be a good test as I will refeed in the morning and hopefully again before noon. No food planed today, but that can always change if needed.

Fasting period has ended and a morning meal has been consumed. Sat on the cushion last night as well. Feeling good.

Yesterday: 19 net carbs. While yesterday I was good on the carbs, it was a bad eating day. I was unusually hungry and eating fat did not satisfy. So I ate more protein and finally achieved a sense of "no longer hungry". But that was late in the day and I had eaten tons of calories. I'm thinking that my workout on Saturday had something to do with this bonus hunger. I did my first significant jog in prep for my April 10K run. I jogged nearly 3 miles Saturday and Sunday I was really feeling it in my legs and butt. Maybe I was just hungry for more protein to rebuild? Eating extra fat wasn't going to do it. I'll have to consider upping my protein over what I had planned to do. I think that my increasing level of activity over the next few months will require more protein than what the typical ketogenic diet calls for.

Observation:

My EBN (Eat Before Noon) Didn't happen this weekend. Timing was difficult as I was out playing both Sat and Sun, Sunday staring at dawn. Both days were very physical and punishing and I came home and ate in the evening. I ate not only for nourishment but also for comfort. After a day of self inflicted abuse from kitesnowboarding it seems like the thing to do.

I think I will try to focus on getting this EBN thing rolling during the work week - maybe easier. I have yet to have a day that I EBN unless it was fasting and that doesn't really count!

Practice continues...
