Default lost 30 pounds in 3 months

In July of 2006 I weighed 223 pounds my Insulin was out of control, I was pre-diabetic.
After learning of the Paleolithic diet (no refined carbs) I decided to give it a try, for my health. I have seen too many of my family member die of diabetes and I was not going to let that happen to me. At first I though it would be hard cutting out all the foods I loved such as pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, not to mention colas. I threw everything out of my cupboards and went shopping. I bought mainly veggies and meat, a small amount of fruit and dairy and I was going home. After seeing what all I could eat and how healthy it was I really wasn’t hard at all to stick with this diet. Yes I cheat sometimes, but when you see the benefits of this diet you can’t resist sticking to it. I guarantee this diet will be with me for life. And speaking of life, my health has improved greatly. My insulin is down over half in just a couple months! And not only that I have lost 30 pounds in 3 months! That’s 6 inches that melted off my waist alone! I went from a size 3x to large and 24 to 16. Not to mention how tone my muscles are by eating protein and not carbs. I am sexy and fit now and never even exercised once, that’s the truth. I know it really sounds too good to be true but try it. I have been over 200 pounds for 6 years and now I am down to 190, it works, it really works! If it can do all this for me it will work for anybody. Including my hubby who has lost 20 pounds in half the time it took me!
Get this diet and stick with it, It really works!

That's very inspiring. Congrats on your success!

I started my lowcarb journey to lose weight but I have come to love the health benefits so much that now it's becoming a WOL.

I was just reading some of the message boards and saw this one. Would someone tell me what the Paleolithic Diet is and where I go to check it out? You can respond here or in my journal. Thanks so much for the help.

Default Paleo diet

For me I just mainly eat Organic meat and veggies. I eat some fruit but I have insuline resistance so I can't eat too much fruit. I eat lots and lots of protein which is helping rebuild my muscles. I also have lumbar stenosis, and degenerative disc disease and a bulging disc and nerve damage all in the same area in my lumbar spine and the pain has decreased greatly by cutting out carbs and losing weight. It is amazing how fast carbs age your body! I'm only 24 and I feel like I'm in my late 30's from eating so many carbs on a daily basis. The paleo diet is so great for me and my family. I have to think 'it's not what I can't eat; it's what I can eat!'
Good luck everybody!

Hi Doris,

The paleolithic diet is composed primarily of meat/fish, veggies, fruits, and nuts/seeds. Foods to be avoided are all grains, sugar, and dairy, and to some extent tubers. A good place to start looking is http://www.paleodiet.com and http://www.paleofood.com. If you want some further reading, I would recommend the book Neanderthin by Ray Audette.
