Question Muscle Cramping Debate, need some input...

Hi there,
I have started the Atkin's Diet a couple weeks ago and so far so good. My husband after every excuse in the world "thinks" he's ready to commit to lower carb diet (probably keeping his carbs at 60g/day). But his reasoning for NOT wanting to go through Induction is because he heard that people who go on a low-carb diet and have a high activity level everyday have frequent muscle cramping....therefore he cannot go low carb. No he's not doing formal workouts everyday, however the physical work he does everyday would be the equivalent of a full body workout (excluding cardio). That said, how many people out there who workout religiously(lot's of weight training) have chronic muscle cramps?? Some experienced insight is greatly appreciated.

I don't experience cramps, but I did want to let you know that I've never done induction and have lost a lot of weight. Induction is a great way to cut the addiction, but you can lose weight just by reducing your carbs. I started out just cutting my carbs in half and then kept dropping them every week or so. Eventually, I ended up sticking around 70 carbs. Basically, I weaned myself off carbs when I first started. I think 60 carbs is a good amount, especially if that is what he is comfortable with and can stick with.

Yes I think that would be good for him, see before I started Induction I did 1 week of 60g a day just to wean myself off then went full force into Induction. I like a strict diet, it works for me, as for DH he needs his "snacks" every once in awhile so nothing too restrictive will work for him.

Remember this diet has a very diuretic effect on the body. He should try and put some Morton's lite salt on his food and increase his magnesium before bed.

I also love Electro Mix by Alacer. It is an electrolyte drink..no sugar, no artrificial ingredients and it has a mild lime taste. It is everything Gatorade wants to be and is very cheap. Have him mix a packet up in a jug and sip on it throughut the day.

It can be found in most health food stores, but here is a little blurb on it..stuff kicks butt!!

good luck
