Default Game # 18 began Thurs 9/3~~ 5 LB CHALLENGE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is WEDNESDAY SEPT 2nd day four of the 5 lb challenge. It is OPEN TO ANYONE THAT FOLLOWS DANDR..1972 or 1992

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!.....NASA (and US!)

WE DO NOT FAIL BECAUSE WE KEEP TRYING!

We have learned and keep learning how our bodies adjust to the ever changing dynamics of life. We follow the Philosophies set forth by DR ATKINS in DANDR..1972 or 1992 versions.

It does not get easier as we get to goal and we accept that we will keep trying and not give in to old habits. We move forward, even if we take steps backward, we strive for success.
Positive attitudes and a sense of humor is a big help.
WE ARE THE A-TEAM!

Sorry I'm so late posting. Crazy, crazy, day of family feud. Not gonna get into it because it's just too stupid to type. Anyway, new low weight and new low sugar today so something good came out today. Another lb down so now at 301 and bs was 95, which is normal. I need something to be normal around me. .

Cricket thank you for the email. I just haven't had time to turn around today. Hopefully I will get back to you tomorrow.

Hope everyone's scales are nice to them. I am exhausted so I will try and read through the posts tomorrow. Nite Y'all!

Happy Thursday! No change for me this morning. Better than going up. So no further comments on this.

CRICKET - Congrats again on your excellent comebacks. You have dropped a lot these past couple weeks. Now give some of us a chance! I hope little Bear is doing OK.

TAM - congrats to you on having normal blood sugar readings! THAT is what it's all about! This eating style is the best thing for diabetes. It has done wonders for me, too! I no longer need insulin and my A1c is now in normal range. When is your next A1c? I bet your doctor will be thrilled!!!! AND YOU ARE NOW ON THE VERGE OF TWODERLAND!!!!!!! You will see that in a couple days, if not earlier the way you are going!!!! I'm sorry to hear of the family feud, and I hope all is resolved with that.

HIMI - you are losing so well, I wish I could too! You are zipping past me so fast I am utterly jealous!

Everyone posted so late last night and I hope today you can all get on a little earlier. I go to bed early and it seems I am missing everything.

Today I have leftover roast, but the thought of it is not appealing. I do my menu in the morning but I am apprehensive to slap that in the tracker right now. I REALLY would rather have chicken. And I may just have it. The roast will have to sit another day. Maybe Ed will eat some today. If not, it goes in the freezer. I am going to have tuna/mayo for lunch. With plenty of mayo. One Tbl is not enough for me, Cricket. I need 3 Tbl. I like a little tuna with my mayo as of late!

So that's the plan. I hope you all have a good plan today as well. And my your plan work for you! I hope and pray tomorrow I can see a loss but I am not getting my hopes up.

CHRISSIE - congrats on the loss!!!!! You posted just before me and I corrected my chart.

FLY BY... TY barb FOR FIXING THE DATE OF THIS GAME DAY TO TODAY!!!
TAM.. did not go back to check your line but I am not sure it is right.. today's start weight was YESTERDAY's ends weight and do not know why * was on the start date...and no change for today? if so still needs * marks at TO GO... It could be my error.I am theleast perfect gal I know.
Was up so much last last night again and opioids did npot touch pain level. ate seeds late and fluids and sf ice pops that Carl got for me... 2 carbs I think..I DO have one a day as dessert in this hot climate. Not been having Jello.Have to go shopping today.. yea.. good luck with that with the sling !!!
GREAT all the way around from what I see... and sorry about feuds..my family was one big feuding crew.Always one not speaking to another and I am guilty of that too. There is never a good enough reason to cut family out.We get cut out eventually by life. Someone has to be the bigger one and fall on the sword for the good!..end of that!
So buddies, see ya later..Bear is slow to come around and we will build a pen for the little ones ..the entrance is the issue with Carl.. he is not exactly a very optomisitc person and always sees the problems.. I look for the problem first and then figure out the solution. There is an easy one but it has to be HIS idea!!! ARGH>>MEN!

Today is THURSDAY SEPT 3rd day one of the 5 lb challenge. It is OPEN TO ANYONE THAT FOLLOWS DANDR..1972 or 1992

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!.....NASA (and US!)

WE DO NOT FAIL BECAUSE WE KEEP TRYING!

IT IS NOT THE HAND YOU WERE DEALT BUT THE WAY YOU PLAY THAT HAND THAT COUNTS

We have learned and keep learning how our bodies adjust to the ever changing dynamics of life. We follow the Philosophies set forth by DR ATKINS in DANDR..1972 or 1992 versions.

It does not get easier as we get to goal and we accept that we will keep trying and not give in to old habits. We move forward, even if we take steps backward, we strive for success.
Positive attitudes and a sense of humor is a big help.

Hang in there Paulette- you were zipping along when I was stuck in the 220's, so I am sure your turn is coming around again!

Tam its great to hear about your sugar normalizing-- health is what its all about. I wish I had gone in and had a full health exam and blood workup done before restarting Atkins -- the Dr. recommends it in the book, I have read it over and over, but I didnt listen-- I FEEL so much better, I know that conditions in my body have improved beyond losing weight, but we are not a Dr.-visiting family (dont really even have a regular family Dr. since ours passed a few years back) and I didnt do it so I dont have anything "official" to compare to before and after unfortunately.

Wanted to get this in early (comparatively ) as it promises to be another crazy day-- I will try to come back later!

I found a site that let me calculate my body fat %. I wanted to find my perfect goal weight because I don't really trust those charts. I always felt 175 was a great comfortable weight for me in the past, but I wanted to find out if it was too high! I went to this site:

http://www.healthcentral.com/choles...t-2774-143.html

It allowed me to plug in my measurements and other stats to find my actual body fat % and my actual lean body mass. Turns out I have a lean body mass of 143 lbs and 34% of fat on me right now. Since you must have about 12% essential fat on your body, and 20% fat would be a lean athletic amount, it turns out my ideal weight would be about 171 lbs. My original estimate was right on the money, practically!

If you are at all interested in finding out what your actual stats are - go to the site above and check it out. It helps a LOT if you are unsure about what you should actually weigh!

HIMI - Congrats on your loss! And thanks for the pep talk. But if you look back, I never zipped through any weight loss for about 3 months now. There is a small stretch once a month when I lost a couple lbs, but I gained it all back. I only lost about 2 lbs total for the past 3 months, and I already gained it back. Such is the pattern of my losses these days. Definitely not zipping!

Hi P&H we rarely ZIP along around here. We do make up lot footings though. The hard part is trhashing and cutting your way through the jungle! The initial weight lossed bring us within a workable range when we decline in the beiginnnig mad losses. n a way it is good to have such fab losses since it does motivate us..HOWEVER.. as it says, the higher we go the farther we fall... we get accustomed to those crazy losses and the newbies figure that it is the way it will continue. It does not do that. As we have learned, we DO lose well, and we level out and we DO continue those other losses..PAULETTIE>>> I can assure you that fat is leaving in areas you do not measure.THere is adipose everyplace so hang in pal. you did lose fat. Those ketosis strips copnfirm that.. and look at the amount you are dumping!!! OMG you are a fat dumping machine. There WILL come a time when it all appears as in overnight!..I again will say to maybe do that cycling again. It broke through for you once and will again. Gotta mix things up and wake up your metabolism againI am sure that is what hapened here.. so off plan an then changed plans and now back on DANDR. Still I am mixing up claories and carbs. Food may be the eame but the mixtures and sides vary to change those values. The food is a vehicle to get this fat into me. SODIUM is less the devil for now.AGAIN, do not know why and do not care. One thing is bumping ut the other. Must be haviong a lot of potassium to dump out the sodium.
I went driving and shopping and am paying for the outing. OK..I willlive through it. I should call the surgeon to ask if I can go back on Ibuprohen!...BBL HUGS!!

HIMI... you know your body better than any physician..but WISH you dod obtain your own primary practitioner for care.It when you are fine that it matters.and we may THINK we are fine but we need the ekgs and labs done. IF doing blood work, a person on this heavier than average fats plan should lower the amounts for several days prior to the test. You will get a more actual HDL.LDL count. THe added fats WILL raise the cholesterol level. SO, although y doc knows my plan and we both chcuckle when I dpo not omit the extra fats proior to the labs, I get cautioned to MONITOR..yep... It was becasue of this surgery that I was discovered to have the new 1st degree heart block. I may be the oldest here, but anyone who has a lot of extra pounds and comorbidities ( numerous illnesses) needs monitoring) and that goes for active fatties like us! We only have this chance to live a good healthy life and if we do not have this information about what our bodies are doing, how can we judge inner imporvement. WE will become healthier as it si what happens when we normkalize our weight, but there is more than numbers and clothing sizes that matters. Many skinny folks are a physical wreck as well...

I did permission to take Ibuprphen 10-14 days post surgical for this doc and this is day 13 for me so I am "out of the red" oh happy days !
Will be back much later but if not, will one of you wonderful team and playmates PLEASE change the chart to FRIDAY for me? I have no weight at this time for Jodi who has been out of state all day...HUGS!

Paulette I tried the calculator at the link you provided and it cannot be accurate for me. I tried with my current measurements and it says,

"You have 26% body fat.
You have 54.3 Pounds of fat and 154.7 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water)."

I tried it with my measurements when my weight was around 276 and it says,

"You have 37.5% body fat.
You have 103.9 Pounds of fat and 173.1 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water)."

I am pretty sure neither one is right. I am NOT in the acceptable (below 31%) body fat % right now!! I cannot have had a lean weight of over 173 a few months ago!

I estimate my current body fat % is around 40%, meaning 125 pounds of lean mass and 84 pounds of fat, with 15 pounds of that being essential fat.

THIS calculator (and photos/drawings) seemed more accurate for me/my weight/height/measurements--

Down a little, but that's better than a gain.

Cricket: Glad you are down another pound today and you were given permission for the ibuprophen. Hopefully, that will ease your pain a little better without causing lot of other issues and side effects from the stronger meds.

Paulette: So sorry for your long ride in the mabel mobile. Trying to lose is certainly a long process, but I guess, since this is lifetime change, there's no big hurry. However, it's frustrating when you are eating on plan and don't see results. Hoping you have a big whoosh soon!

Himi: Great job on your loss! I have had an unusually busy week too and can't wait for things to slow down a little so I have some "me" time. Trying to get work done to go on vacation, so I've been going in early and working until late so I haven't been able to post as normal.

Chrissie: Congrats on your loss. Hopefully, you're back on plan and the cravings are gone!

Tam: Sorry for your crazy, stressful day. So glad you are already seeing positives results with this WOE.

Kathy: Hopefully, you are enjoying the casino with your mom and the food's not too tempting!

Jodi: Hope you are doing something fun with your horses!

I'll update the chart since I'm probably the last to post. I'll try to update in the morning. I think we're going to take a quick weekend trip to my inlaws in NJ. My FIL seems to be failing pretty quickly and we want to take advantage of the three day weekend. Bob just started his job in January and works Mon/Wed/Fridays 10-11 hour days, so it's hard to go on a regular weekend when he usually doesn't get home until 8P on Friday nights. It takes about 6.5 hours to get there. It's their 68th wedding anniversary on the 7th so we're going to try to get him out to eat and Bob and his brother want to try to do some things around their house while we're there.

If we don't leave until Saturday, I'll be able to post before we leave, but they don't have internet, so I'll probably be gone until Monday PM.
