Question Anybody tried Keto Sweet

I was just browsing through Carblife's baking section (I have my sister coming tomorrow... even though the food's already planned, it still put me in a baking frame of mind! ) and came across a product called Keto Sweet...

The product information is listed as:

Product Pack Size: 122g

Effective Carb Count: 0

Product Ingredients:
Glycine (an amino acid) acesulfame potassium an natural flavours.

Nutritional Information:
serving size:1/2 tsp (equivalent to 2 tsps of sugar)
calories: 0g
Fat: 0mg
Sodium: 0g
Carbs: 0g
Protein: 0g

Additional Information:
Approximately 60 servings

I wondered firstly if anyone had tried it... and secondly if anyone can tell me what on earth those ingredients translate to?! I don't have time to research them right now...

Had a look on the Food Standards Agency website not much more than Pepsi Max had already said.

Did find a table of "E" numbers which had : E950 - Acesulfame K and E951 - Aspartame

Also on another page was :-

New regulations giving a two-year temporary national authorisation
to market a new sweetener, ‘salt of aspartame-acesulfame,’ came into force on 27 May 2003.

The salt is a chemical combination of two already permitted sweeteners, aspartame (E951)
and acesulfame K (E950) at an equivalent mixture of 1:1.

When will they stop playing with our food ?

sorry l couldn't add any more.

Steve

Thank you both very much indeed... that really is a fantastic help!

Still no "sugar" for me then... ah well!

As for messing with our food... tell me about it, Steve. It doesn't take too close a look at the food industry to realize we're not quite the democracy we're told we are... to put it very mildly indeed. Yet still the infamous British apathy prevails...

Hi there
Yes I have tried it but didnt rate it

From the same place though (carblife.co.uk) I have tried Sionin which is great tasting carb free and heat stable in my cooking.

Its the only thing I have tried thats better than Splenda (only cos its carb free!)

Hi Crackers

What's in Sionin?

Heh, I think most folk know by now I won't touch Splenda! I'll have another look at carblife to see what nasties Sionin has hidden in it though...

Ever hopeful!
