Default Hi all from London, UK

Hi, I'm new to these boards - I've just posted a bit on the UK one today.

I need to lose weight for health reasons, and I have lost it before on LC programmes - Atkins (60 lb) and Schwarzbein (25 lb). My downfall is pasta and pastries, as I love them and they never fill me up for long, however much I eat.

I'm going to start a journal in the hope that it will make me feel accountable. I tend to come up with fantastic diet plans, but half an hour later I'm gorging on chocolate bars. I really need a kick up the behind!!!

A very warm welcome to you, Jel! As CNYMom said, we'll kick you in the behind if we think you need it, but we're also always ready with support, encouragement, advice and information.

I recommend that you spend as much time here as you can. It's a great place to be. Right off the bat, I'll suggest that you just make up your mind to stay away from all pastas and grains completely, for the first few months at least. You can get plenty of wholesome carbs from low-carb veggies. Try using spaghetti squash instead of pasta, if you can find it over there. You might be able to add pastas and grains back into your diet later, but if you already know they cause problems for you, it may be that you will have to avoid them forever.

I'm a serious sugar addict, and carbs from any source other than low-carb veggies create terrible cravings for me that last for up to a month. I have no self control with even LC sweets, so I have to be careful of those, as well. We're all different, though, and each of us has our own trigger foods that we have to avoid.

Thanks everyone!

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't really started low-carbing yet... No, actually, I start the day with eggs, but later on I crave sweet snacks and a pasta dinner, so I just think to myself "Never mind, I can start the diet tomorrow..."

Where, o where is my motivation??? My enthusiasm???

I've felt rather depressed the last couple of months, and instead of trying to eat for energy and health I've been comfort-eating and putting on more weight.

I've been reading through these boards and admiring people who've fought it and lost weight. I shall continue to read, and hopefully their attitude will rub off on me!!!
