Hey guys! I am new to the forum and wanted to do a quick introduction. I have been lurking around the site for about three weeks. I am so amazed by everyone's successes and completely relate to all of the struggles. It's nice to see everyone so committed to helping each other.

As for me, I'm 25 years old and 5'2". I have struggled with weight since college. In high school I was an athlete and led a very active lifestyle. The stress of studies, medications, failed relationships, and the like, finally pushed me to a weight over 190. My poor eating habits also have affected the weight of my significant other. Finally, after refusing to take pictures for a year, we have committed to taking control over our health and to quit making excuses. I have had many friends use Atkins in the past to great success. I have also had mild success when making the decision to cut out sugary desserts in the past (it never stuck, as I still constantly craved the breads, tortillas, etc that I thought were 'good' for me, and ate too much). Knowing my addiction to carbohydrates, it seemed like the best route for me.

Over the past three weeks, I've lost roughly 10 pounds. The first few days were very rough, but now I am in the groove. I started with 60 pounds to lose to put me into a healthy BMI. I want to stay in induction for the first 30 pounds, and then start my journey toward maintenance. I am sticking to 20-25 carbs per day but have jumped ahead two rungs and allowed myself to have unsweetened peanut butter at night to take my medication with (psychological or not, it is the only thing I have EVER found to keep away nausea at night). My only current struggle is keeping the number of calories up. If I don't actively try to eat enough, I won't. But I've read the tips on the forum and am working on increasing the fat/calories.

I look forward to getting on track together!
