Default Cooking Fish

I am wondering how to cook fish in a healthy way. My sister always fries it in white flour, but I obviously don't want to do that. So what can be substituted instead? Will wholewheat flour work?

Yes, but what about broiling or baking it? Much easier than frying!

Well I suppose in a way I am trying to convert her too and she like to fry it since it's quick! Is there any other lower carb flour that can be used instead of wholewheat. Wholewheat would do but it would mean I wouldn't be able to have 1 potato at my meal like I usually do because I'd have to count the carbs in the wholewheat flour. How about whey protein for example?

Try ground almonds. Coat the fish in a scant bit of mayonnaise and then roll in the almonds.

Ok, worth a try. Does it give the fish a nutty or sweet flavour?

Thanks for the tips as always BTW Karen!!!

Default Best Ever Baked Fish

This recipe is the absolute best. We are not fish people, but I always think we need to have some fish, even if just for a change. This recipe is excellent.

Slightly nutty. Fish fried in butter then covered with toasted, sliced almonds, lemon and parsley is called "almondine" in French cooking so almond meal is no tooo far of base.

Hi Karen,

Mayonnaise and ground almonds...now why hadn't I thought of that!!

I was looking for something a bit different to do with pan fried fish.

...you're a doll!

You can add Dijon mustard, herbs, garlic, etc. to the mayonnaise for extra flavour, Les.
