Default I just don't know.

Yesterday was Day 3 of me trying to eat low carb, AGAIN. and what did I do? Last night, I binged so bad on oreos, little debbies, twinkies and ice cream that I was so stuffed and yet so happy last night. Now, today, I feel horrible because I know I want to lose weight but I just have no energy, motiviation, etc to do so.

I don't think I can stick to Adkins. I have an obsessive personality and if I get it in my head that I want something sweet, I have to have it. BUT, I think I might be able to control it if I cave into sweets such as strawberries, raspberries, etc....with an occasional treat. I am addicted to nuts, pumpkin seeds and pistacios, to be exact.....I could live on those too.

Are any of you on a plan that allows you a sweet treat daily, or can any of you recoment something for me that might work as a woe?

You can adhere to Atkins and have home-made cheesecake or whipped cream (there are many induction-friendly desserts posted on this MB). I found that after the ketosis kicked in, all of my cravings went away. I think you already know this, but losing weight involves sacrifices and you have to decide if you are willing to make them. Obviously, nothing comes easy in life. Best of luck to you. Jill

((((((((((((hi hon)))))))))))) it IS hard to figure out what works for OUR body. and EVERY body is different. thus there may be one weight loss journey, but many many paths. i will share a little of my path with you. i have been low carbing in one form or another for about 10 years. and it always worked as far as making me so sick of food i did not ever want to eat again. however, the most i have ever lost was 8 lbs, and that was after 8 months of stricktly adhering to low carb.

i restarted for the umpteenth time at the end of march. did very low carb (atkins) for the first 2 weeks. felt awful, lost only a couple lbs. then i switched to lower protein, higher fat (fatkins) for 2 more weeks, again lost a couple of lbs, but felt worse and had no energy. and HATED the site of protein and fat.

sooooooooooooooo i am doing what i now call a *no crap diet) for over 4 weeks and to date have lost 14 lbs! and 4 inches off my tummy!!! i do eat carbs, but it is in moderation and only healthy carbs. i stay away from all the crap like jello, bars, shakes, etc. for breakfast i usually have a low carb whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter, for lunch usually a salad and a lcww tortilla with cheese (made crispy in the microwave. and for dinner meat and veggies (i prefer fish and chicken) then i either have my dessert then or wait till later in the evening. my dessert is 1/2 full fat plain yogurt, 1/3 c raspberries, 1 T. flaxseed, 1 T. pecans.

I am VERY satisfied, do not have cravings, my nighttime craving is GONE, i enjoy what i eat and never feel deprived. i feel *normal*. and my energy level has gone way up.

so continue your search and i will pray that you will find YOUR way. blessings and hugs, diane

well said innovis....like i always said, what mother nature gave us to eat and its NOT out of any boxes or bags...FRESH FRESH FRESH!!!!! a good trick if you want your fruits is eat them one hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal and you can eat any fruits you want...ive been doing GI diet and the word diet is really a different way of eating so its not a diet just they are all different ways of eating out there...the GI you eat carbs, fruits etc...and you will still loose your weight...you find what works for you in all them diets and you will know and will stick to it...just remember the basics of mother nature what she gave us what what we are suppose to do with it...

i got this in my email at work this morning and it kind of reminds me how the real life was back then...we worry about everything today even what to eat...here's the email:

Those Born 1930-1979

READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO. IF YOU DON'T READ ANYTHING ELSE---VERY WELL STATED
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day AND we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!
The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding,
severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is
a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

neat heh?

From a former sweet tooth who can now walk past sweets without thinking twice... This is something I have read before and it has always stuck in my mind. Now that I've surpassed my goal, I agree 100%. "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!"

If you want to lose weight badly enough, you will find a way to stick with LC until the sweet cravings go away.

Best of luck to you in your journey.
